==================================
QUOTE:
Directed by Joe Johnston. With Viggo Mortensen, Zuleikha Robinson, Omar Sharif.
Hidalgo is an action-adventure and one mans journey of personal redemption. Based on the life of Frank T. Hopkins, his legend comes to life when one of the greatest riders the American west has ever known is pitted against the worlds finest Arabian horses and racers.

Onetime cowboy Frank T. Hopkins (VIGGO MORTENSEN) was once billed as a living legend, but in fact the glory days for Hopkins and his beloved horse, a mustang named Hidalgo, are long past. Outcasts from their own land, Frank and Hidalgo both have something to prove when Hopkins became the first American invited to enter the Ocean of Fire, a grueling 3,000-mile survival race across punishing terrain of the Arabian Desert. With his competitors vowing victory, the race becomes not only a matter of pride and honor, but a fight for survival as they attempt the impossible.

The story of the cowboy Hopkins and his mustang, strangers in a strange land as they become the first American and non-Arabian horse to compete in the toughest endurance race the world has ever known, Hidalgo stars Viggo Mortensen as a man billed as the greatest distance rider the West has ever known.

I'm not sure what the law is concerning copyrights of movies, but YouTube.com has all kinds of movies.....I can pull up YouTube.com on my DirecTV and with the "Smart Search" feature, pull up these movies and watch them there.....I love the "martial arts" movies, especially the ones featuring "Jet Li", and have been watching a lot of them on the TV from there....I could do the same with this movie....on the DirecTV's "remote controller", click the "Menu" button, scroll down to "Extras" and you should see the "YouTube.co" site........when you click it, you'll get the Smart Search screen where you'll enter info. about the movie, or anything else you'd find on Youtube, and you'll get the listing of the various movies for that search...you can even pull up anything else you have on your personal computer (Music and Photos) that you'd like to view on your TV screen...... :thumbup:

Hidalgo

Quote:

Actor Viggo Mortensen made his first starring appearance in a film after his breakthrough performance in the Lord of the Rings trilogy with this period adventure. Frank T. Hopkins (Mortensen) is a U.S. Cavalry officer who earned a reputation as one of the fastest and most daring riders in the West; however, after taking part in the bloody massacre at Wounded Knee, Hopkins becomes disenchanted with the Cavalry, and once his hitch is up, he takes a job as a rider with a seedy touring Wild West show. During an engagement in New York, Hopkins meets Aziz (Adam Alexi-Malle), an associate of wealthy Bedouin Sheikh Riyadh (Omar Sharif), who knows of Hopkins' talents and wants him to take part in "The Ocean of Fire," an annual 3,000-mile desert horse race running from Arabia to Iraq. Hopkins accepts the invitation and sails to the Middle East with his trusty mustang Hidalgo without knowing just what he's getting himself into. Once he arrives, Hopkins learns that the punishing race course claims the lives of nearly half its contestants, and that most of his competitors ride pure-bred Arabian stallions and do not regard Hidalgo and his master as worthy adversaries. Temporarily exiled to a land where freedom eludes the multitudes and class and wealth define one's fate, Hopkins finds himself riding for both honor and principle, with the support of Riyadh and his beautiful, headstrong daughter, Jazira (Zuleikha Robinson), though the Sheikh's nephew Katib (Silas Carson) is equally determined to see Hopkins go down in defeat. Hidalgo was directed by Joe Johnston, who previously worked with animals on the run in Jumanji and Jurassic Park III.

This is funny... I had posted Oct 16, 2012 and you replied Jun 27, 2013. I have a 40" TV with a Blu-Ray player an I now have a 20" monitor for my computer. Which do you think I'd prefer to watch movies on. At the moment I am watching my 40" TV while reading post of other people on UHH, enjoying both. Hidalgo is a great movie but I'd rather watch it from a DVD on a big screen TV. I like to collect movies. By the way, This computer has a TV PCI Card so I can watch and record TV at the same time. My other computer is connected to the 40" TV.
