For the first time in it's 143 year history the Detroit News is not endorsing a republican candidate for President but they can't stomach the democrat either.

In my opinion, city newspapers should refrain from directly endorsing any political figure or party. It's a sure way to lose subscribers. And I'm not sure endorsements really achieve anything. For example, would you change your intended v**e simply because your local newspaper endorses one of the other candidates?
