Elegant --- Agreed. I burned out two of them by making tens of thousands of slides on a copy stand, back in the '80s.
I liked my F3HP better, though. I still have one with a pin-registered back and viewfinder reticle (grid) for precise multiple exposures and slide composition. Such a relic of a dead industry (multi-image/multimedia production)...
I don't think most people grasp the concept of "elegance" in a machine: purity of design, simplicity of function, intuitiveness of use, devoid of complicated unessentials. That is what I loved about the FM and what I think people love about the DF. Besides WORKING of course! I love my Fuji XT-1 for the same reasons.

I had a 1969 Nikkormat FTn. It lasted just two years before the meter became unreliable, and Nikon could not get it fixed. My Nikon 1971 FTn is still in my nostalgia case, and I'm sure it still works. Finding those button batteries is a problem, though!
Batteries is not a problem, I still can get it (replacement) from Radio Shack. The reference number is 625A or PX625A it depends on what brand. It's 1.5V alkaline battery.
Here's a picture of my two FTn, they still look like new.

In addition to mt Df, I still shoot regularly with my Nikon Fe and Nikkormat Ft2. I took this last week with the Fe and Ilford HP5 400.

Thank you Phil, I really enjoy shooting with the old film bodies.
I'm a Canon and Leica shooter, but I love the Df. I actually bought one, but sold it on rather than investing in yet another set of lenses. If I wasn't so invested in Canon glass I'd use the Df as my primary SLR. Handling is great, the manual controls are just like th old days (and my Leica) and most importantly, it has that wonder D4 sensor.
