I recently posted a comment about Amazon informing me that their Unlimited Photos App was being discontinued and I would have to pay for Amazon Prime.
I have just received another email from Amazon which is some sort of apology I suppose.
Here is the email I have just received:
"We recently learned that you received an email incorrectly announcing your Unlimited Photos plan was being changed into an Unlimited Storage trial. We're very sorry about this. We meant to let you know that the Unlimited Photos storage plan is no longer available, but you can continue to use your plan until it ends.
To make up for this, we are giving you 12 free months of the Unlimited Storage plan, which lets you store as many photos, videos, and other files as you like. When your promotional Unlimited Storage plan ends, you will be charged $59.99 for a one-year plan. You can cancel your promotional plan at any time"
This offer is valid until your current plan expires. Please accept this offer on your “Manage Storage” page:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/photos/storage We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Sincerely,
Customer Service Department

Sounds fair to me. Are you satisfied with their offer/apology to rectify the mistake?

Its not a "dirty trick" if they apologize for an error and make an effort to rectify it.

I am curious as to why you think this is a "dirty trick". Maybe I am missing something but it sure appears they are attempting to correct a mistake in a very fair and probably generous manner.
My first post about Amazon dirty tricks concerned the cancellation of my Amazon Photos unless I paid for Amazon Premium, I considered this was unreasonable at such short notice.
My second post referred the second email from Amazon in which they apologized for their error and gave me a 12 month extension free, which I have gratefully accepted, I just need to take advantage of their Premium Account and make a note not to renew it in 12 months time.
If you purchase a great deal at Amazon, their Prime membership is well worth the $99 per year. There are many additional features that come with the subscription. However, if you don't purchase at Amazon, it is not worth the price.

So if I understand this correctly, they changed the terms of your agreement and before you and they had an opportunity to rectify the situation you decided to bash them on the internet? I see this all too often. My advice, have a little patience and try not to overreact.

Good for you for posting this.
I used to go to Amazon a lot. But now I'm very reluctant. The last several times they have tried to charge me way too much for mailing. I don't feel I do enough business with them to go on their Prime thing. A case in point I've been having trouble with an SD card and decided just to get a new one. They wanted $12.95 postage for a memory stick. There is lots of other places to go other then Amazon and I am going to try them. Before you say it was a vendor I'll tell you it was from Amazon itself.

Viv la competition. It is good that you can find other vendors that you like.
As a counterpoint, I have been using Amazon for several years. I have sent one or two things back with no issues. I am very happy with their service. I get things delivered to my doorstep, for a competitive price, no traffic, no parking hassle, no crowds. Love it.

We order a lot from Amazon and the cost of Prime pays for itself in a month or two, after that its all gravy. Plus we get 2 day shipping for no cost and Prime video which allows up to stream thousands of movies and TV episodes at no additional charge.
For many photo/electronic products I use B & H. No sales tax unless in NY and free shipping as long as it does not have to be expedited. Expedited for $49+ purchase. Fabulous customer service too, but so does Amazon.
