In the menus at top click on 'search' I put in 'shutter count' and came up with multiple threads.

Quote: download a free copy of 'exiftool' on the web. You don't have to use all the features of the program; just shoot one picture and load it into the program and under all the exif data you will see the shutter count. good luck! UNQUOTE

That was one of them

A day or two ago someone said to go to the internet and enter Shutter Count. It' free and quick, All you have to do is download it and browse for your last picture and click on it and it automatically tell you the shutter count. Nothing else to do. I put it in my favorites and just click and go when needed. Mine didn't have multiple threads as I didn't go through UHH, went straight to internet.

Just used "Camerashuttercount.com" works great. Takes a little time to upload the picture however.

*Get Irfanview (free) and also get the plug-ins for it. Start the program, open a photo, click on Image > Information > Exif info.
*Get ExifInfo - also free. Unzip and get the icon onto the Desktop. Find a photo and drag it onto the icon. A window will open with loads of info. Look down the list for Shutter Count (or whatever they call it).

I've tried most of those and even downloaded the program. The Canon 7D doesn't seem to be a supported model and I assume it's not showing up in the EXIF data. I used an EXIF dumper and didn't see any field that looked even close to the right number.

Sorry, but Canon seems to like keeping that info secret. Now, if you switch to Nikon...

Whats odd is that each battery "remembers" how many clicks, but not the body, or at least not that's easy to get to.

I mighta jumped to Nikon, but it won't be for the shutter count.

I've tried both jpg's right out of the camera as well as cr2's from my 7D, and CameraShutterCount.com gave me, "It looks like your camera doesn't supply the necessary information."

So, unless there is some magic I'm missing, at least for my 7D, it doesn't work. I assume it probably works for other cams, but not mine.
