We dropped in on our son and his family in Burbank, CA, earlier this week. I saw a plant with lots of these flowers? in his neighbor's yard next to the sidewalk. It looked interesting so I fetched my camera and took some pix. This photo is one of the results. What it is, I know not. It certainly has lots of structure and colors so that is good enough for me.
Almost looks like some king of poinsettia family ? Hopefully someone will inform you to what plant this is. Very Interesting plant !!

Perhaps a relative of bougainvillea? Flower(s) are small, central. Beautiful magenta bracts. Family Nyctaginaceae?
