My Coton de Tulear puppies are growing up, still puppies but a lot bigger than when we got them.
The little girl, Angel Bear is so angelic, when she's sleeping. So is the little boy, Teddy Bear. When awake they're working on insidious (in a nice way) plans to show mommy and daddy how smart they are.
They are cuties for sure!

Thank you. Now that all the 2 legged children have their own children, we thought an 8 legged fluffy white monster would be fun... They really are!

Dogs can sure wrap you around their little paws, can't they? Great looking puppies, and loved I'm sure.
Ohhhh, I'm in love with them, rmorrison! Beautiful captures! They're really precious!

These guys, well, guy and girl, are the social center of the family. The grand kids want to come over to play with the puppies. Our youngest and oldest daughters can't have dogs at home so they come to our house to play with our dogs. To them, our daughters, Angel Bear and Teddy Bear are the family dogs, not just our dogs. Our middle daughter has two dogs at home but her daughters like playing with Nana and pop-pop's puppies because they are smaller and more fun.

Hello rmorrison. You sound like a very proud papa. I am so glad you posted more pics of your Cotons. They sure are cute.

I'm amazed at how fast they are growing, especially Angel Bear. Although they were born within minutes of each other, and technically he's her "big" brother, by about 15 minutes, she has over 2 pounds on him. When we first got them they were pretty much the same size. She was slightly bigger than her siblings but not that much bigger. The vet said when they are full grown he will be bigger than her. The vet also said, and he runs a fairly large facility near a well populated area, these are the first Coton's he's ever seen. From all my research prior to acquiring the Cotons, these guys should be a little larger than a Maltese when fully grown. Angel Bear is now almost the size of her name sake Maltese and has a lot of growing yet to do.
I also had no idea they, especially her, are jumpers. I'll be sitting in my recliner and she will take a running leap, soaring a few feet right into my lap. She likes to do that when I'm not paying attention, and when she's up on my lap, the tounge goes into action, little kisses...
I built a fence in my postage stamp front yard so the dogs would have a place at home to play outside. The fence is 2.5 feet high. She can now, at 4 and a half months old, jump that fence. I've already started on a second fence that's 2 feet higher.
They are a handful but they are also a blast. When I leave work at the end of the day I say, time to go home and play with my puppies.
Question, how long did it take you to house train yours? I know this takes time with all Bischon breeds and they are no exception. We have training pads all over the place, which they are pretty good at using, and they get taken out often, even in the wee hours of the morning.
Hi rmorrison: Our Cotons also like to jump and leap. When going down the steps (either from the 3rd floor to the 2nd floor, or from the 2nd to main floor) one of them like to take the last 3 steps in one jump. I keep thinking he is going to break a leg. Yep, they sure are full of little kisses. Now, about the training. The more frequently you let them out, the better -- even if they don't have to go potty. Put the out and tell them to go. We started using inside pads as well when out Cotons were young, but a local dog trainer told us NOT to use them because the pups get the notion that it is okay to pee in the house. I would slowly start to move the pads to an outside door, and when you see them going to use the pad, pick them up and take them outside. You can soon put the pad outside where you want them to go, and then eventually get rid of it all together. Keep me posted.

As soon as I finish the taller fence they will spend more time outside. They do go out numerous times during the day and even at night. Sometimes they are so excited they, or at least one of them, doesn't wait until they get to the bottom of the stairs and out the door. I don't mind as much when they pee downstairs. We put in a synthetic hardwood floor in the living room and dining room that's also waterproof and the kitchen has a tile floor and the family room, which is carpeted, is gated. The entire second floor is carpeted so we keep the gate at the bottom of the stairs closed most of the time to discourage them from going upstairs by themselves. If they pee downstairs it's an easy clean up. They are getting much better at using the pads so I'm going to do the same as you and start placing them closer to the door. I hope we don't get snow here like we did last winter, the front yard disappeared for quite some time and I had to shovel out a section just so the first Angel Bear had a place to go. The current running joke between myself and the wife is, who's stupid idea was it to get two of them, as puppies, at the same time. But, realistically, we wouldn't have it any other way.
I found an old photo of the original Bert and Angie, Teddy Bear and Angel Bear, on my work PC which I'm using now. It was taken several years ago with a cell phone so it's not very good. Here are Teddy Bear and Angel Bear (not puppies) and Teddy Bear Too and Angel Bear Too...
They are actually very easy to train, and it's easier when someone is home with them all the time. Neither my wife or I are retired yet. One of our Cotons (Ajax -- he is standing behind the other Coton in my avatar) loves the snow. He loves to roll around in it, and he goes through it like a little snow plow, and he practices his leaping and jumping skills when the snow gets high. The other one (Casper) doesn't like snow or water. The pics of your former pups looks great, and your 2 Cotons look exactly like Ajax and Casper when they were young. Both are precious pictures. Our Cotons will turn 6 years old at the end of January, 2017.
