How can I take a wide angle pic with with the G-12 - I see there is a tele converter available but sure if that would accomplish what I am wanting to do. Is there a wide angle lens available for the G12 powershot?

The only thing I've seen for it is a .43x wide angle convertor.

Not going to be a sharp as without it, but it will get you wider.
If you are shooting static objects and have software that's capable, you could do a panorama. To do this, you take several overlapping shots and "stitch" them together.
If done correctly, it will be better than a wide angle lens. I've done lots of these. In daylight, you don't usually need a tripod.
