Repairing a Cornish wall.. and a lily

The wall that is opposite me was in danger of collapsing into the vicars garden is being repaired. As it is a Cornish stone wall it is being repaired in the same way it was made. The only difference is that instead of using earth they now use a drier cement to go in the middle and in between the stones. The repair has been done in two sections. A proper old wall which we have a lot of are all made with stones and earth and the plants that grow in them help to hold it together. Due to the age of the walls a lot need to be repaired and the lads who are doing the wall do them to a high standard. A lot of the old houses have 3ft walls that are made the same way and the inside wall are very nice as the stone is sometimes painted or varnished...

Thank you very much Randy, the wall was finished today and it was interesting to see the two lads doing it.... At least it is a trade that has been passed down and there are lots of walls that need to be repaired. When the fencing is down on Monday I will take a picture of the finished wall. Glad you like the lily...
