I belong to a fireworks club in Michigan and I take the archive and newsletter photos, and I've taken some wonderful 3-5 second exposures and even gotten them in Magazines, but this year I have the new Sony slt a65 camera which has Hdand blueray video. Ive never shot video before.with a DSLR, would my iso and Fstops be the same??? anyone have some tips for me to try out before this years shoot on memorial day weekend????

Fireworks are just light. No, Fstops are not the same and neither is the shutter. Use a shutter speed of 1/50th if you like the motion picture effect, 1/60th if you like regular television productions, and 1/125th if you want to play back in slow motion. Choose a medium Fstop to start. I would think you'd want at least f8 for DOF of high and low fireworks. Turn on your "live view" and adjust ISO for on screen exposure.
