There is no such thing as a mirrorless DSLR!!! (and by the way, theM3 is a higher end model than the M5)

True, but that has been the standard way of referring to a mirrorless camera that has interchangeable lenses, even though it lacks the "reflex" part of the name. The M5 is the newest version that Canon is releasing in November. I love the M3, but it lacks a remote jack, other wise I wouldn't be spending $990 for the M5 body after spending $980 for the M3 body two months ago.

Don't know anything about either camera, however, I avoid using a cord-remote with my 5D Mark ii. I use the Canon remote. To get around the sensor being on the front of the camera, I spent about $25 and bought a rig at my camera store to hold a small mirror on the tripod leg. Now I can stand behind the camera and take shots. It was very easy.

I had the 5D MkIII, but had to sell it because the neuropathy was causing me to drop things and I needed a lighter camera. I used the remote cord and various triggers for many projects that I wished to continue. I thought about using a mirror to redirect the IR beam, but I don't want the delay that I sometimes get witht he IR remote.
