Other than ebay and kijiji can anyone suggest decent used camera shops or sites?

ditto. not only is it the largest used camera store in the US, their prices are much better than ebay, adorama, and b+hphoto. they put a 6 month free warranty on what they sell, service what they sell, and have an outstanding reputation. I only shop Keh as i have been treated real well . do not be afraid to look at bgn or ug rated products. the items they sent me rated in such condition came in way better shape then rated worked perfectly but had a few cosmetic blemishes but so what. i bought an md-100 vertical grip for my d-100 rated ug for 2 small cuts in the plastic paid a whopping $1.79 for it. works perfectly. my d-100 i bought from them had 4 scratches where the missing lcd protector would have been , paid 166 for it on ebay same camera same condition they wanted 500. I do not trust ebay. stick with a reputable store like keh you wont be sorry. if i have a daughter im naming her KEHndra!!!
Tried looking on KEH but they did not have what I was looking for: Nikon 105mm f/2 DC.

go to keh home page check on incoming arrivals they may have it there. also if you send them an email telling them what you are looking for they may be able to help.

Yep, that does sound a tad crazy. Well, adventuresome and risky anyway -- especially for advanced electromechanical optical equipment. But you can't have any fun without some risk.

Darkman Canada,
The lens you seek was a limited number lens when new. And for good reason. I have it's longer sibling (135 DC). Check the major retailers from time to time. You ay even find one new in stock for only two hundred more dollars? The Nikon mall sells both reconditioned from time to time. I dobt there going to be bargains though.
These three plus craigslist are the only place I will buy used. Only reason I include craigslistis i because I can get my hands on the item and inspect it in person. Still, no warrantee or return policy with it so you need to be very careful. With an item like a camera body it is impossible to check everything.

B&H new for $1,089 or can usually be found used on ebay for around $800. The demand for this lens keeps the used price up and bargains on this lens are rare due to it's reputation
