After a really bad print, I do a nozzle check. It prints out 8 blocks, one for each cartridge. A couple times, there is nothing for bank 2 when bank 1 is fine. Nozzle cleaning and deep cleaning does not fix it. Twice, removing all the tanks, removing the print head and then putting it all back together is fixing it.
I'm guessing it is the electrical contacts between the head and printer. Do those need to be cleaned? And how?
I'd call Canon. I had a problem with my Pro-100, and they sent me specific instructions on what to do. It worked. Their customer service is awesome - which is why I'm a Canon.

Thanks! Somehow I've become adverse to calling manufacturers. In this case I'll try Canon even though I'm well out of warranty. If anyone cares, I've had enough use from this printer and liked the results so well, that I would buy a replacement and feel good about it.
As suggested, call Canon. I have done this with Epson, some would just brush me off, kept calling till I found a couple of techs that were willing to help. They did resolve my problems. Now when something comes up I ask for them specifically, and have developed a working relationship with them. Just have to weed out those that don't want to help. There are techs out there that will work through your problem with you. That in it self makes it worth the effort.
