The D3400 is a slight improvement from the D3300. You can Google the information you want.

Mrs Nikon was here this afternoon for an Avon party Mrs Billy held. She bought some melon flavored massage oil so Mr Nikon is in for a good time huh.
I relayed you question to her and she said the company has a department set up to help the mentally challenged who have difficulty using Google and if you can supply your address she will make sure they send you the information you require. Its written in simple terms with large print and plenty of pictures.
When you say your not into people I have a friend who runs an online counselling service for the lonely and loners alike. PM me for further details.

There are so many factors ... both personal and material performance ... that this sort of information is almost impossible. One way to simplify your quest for information is to Google a camera you are interested in for instance "THIS CAMERA REVIEWS" 0r "THIS CAMERA COMPARE" and you will come up with reviews that will offer you comparisons to other cameras in the same ballpark of performance. I was in the same position as you this past year ... and it took me five months to decide which camera to get ... and I'm still not sure I made the right decision. But there are pros and cons to every camera.

I, too, enjoy landscape and nature photography, and am up and out to the forests, rivers, marshes, ponds and meadows pretty much every morning by six at the latest. Many a morning I will run into other people like me ... natural hermits who happen to also like people, but who often find camaraderie in the silence and whispers of nature.

This morning I was out by 5:30 to get the moonset. I ran into a photographer with is wife and small child and exchanged a few friendly words. Then into three youngish bird watchers ... two of them with cameras ... and exchanged a few smiling knowing glances. Then ran into two fishermen who allowed me to photograph them by their fire at rivers edge and surrounded by rolling mists. There was a silent camaraderie there also ... in the mystery of early morning. Later, when I was trying to capture the dew on spiderwebs in a large meadow just post dawn (when the sun is still low and golden) a person on a bike passed and we shared a brief hello and knowledge of a common feel of nature and solitude and freedom.

These short and almost wordless meetings (especially in nature) often exchange much much more of one's self and of our deeper humanity and communian than a dozen hours mingling with folks in idle social chatting.

Good luck in finding enjoyment in seeking what you are looking for ... whether you find that or not.

Is this one of those "snarky comments" that TriX got on my butt about a few days ago. Darla is new here, Billyspad, why don't you lighten up.

I use dpreview.com and imaging-resource.com a lot for camera reviews.
https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikon-d3300 (I didn't see a review for the 3400 but it's very similar to the 3300)
http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/nikon-d3400/nikon-d3400A.HTM

The D-3400 will be a big step up from your coolpix especially in poor lighting conditions. If I were buying another entry level camera I'd spend a little more and get the D-5500. It will allow a little more room for you to grow into it.
My simplest body is the d-5100 and it's been a great little camera for years now. Simple but takes great images as they all do these days.

When I was in your position I swore I'd never go to a dlsr because I'm a gear head through and through and I know I couldn't resist all the accessories available. 4 dslr bodies and and I won't mention how many lenses and flashes later...
I'm not brand loyal, I just got started with Nikon and because of all the above accessories I'm staying with it. I think you could pick most any of the name brand modern dslr's or mirrorless cameras and be thrilled with it.

I, too, started with a point and shoot then "graduated" to a big girl camera. My first was a d3100. After a couple of years, I realized that I needed more than it could offer. Like a weather sealed body, faster shooting speed, wifi enabled. Look at what you like to do. If it's purely landscape, then the fps probably doesn't matter to you. I wanted it faster to shoot wildlife (I don't like people either😉). The wifi feature is awesome. I can edit and post or share on the go.
BTW, I'm with you, I can Google til my fingers bleed but the advice of people who know, people who've actually used the equipment is far more informative.
Good luck

Consider the D3300 instead. Almost the same camera, but cheaper. For what you will be using the camera, the minor improvements of the D3400 likely won't have much impact on your photography at all. Unless the added Bluetooth feature on the D3400 is something you need.
