Daydreams II

Working this image I finally get what has been talked about here in previous threads. I have mentioned here that I am dense and this might give a bit of insight. In the various sense of place and other similar threads referring to images standing on their own or being part of a series I was confused. This image for me because I am familiar with other similar images I have taken can stand on it’s own with no issue. For a viewer I am not so sure.

Have I muted out enough back ground to confuse the viewer or is there still enough context there for easy connection?

Frank, very nice high key presentation. Even without the other image as reference, there is enough there to enable the viewer to complete the scene.

I like this version Frank, I think the processing suits the expression and pose, and I really like what you did with the people in the background. They are there but are no longer a bother in the composition.
We know what they are but don't have to figure out their details.

I would Photoshop out the 2 people in the background.

I love the soft, high key look but for me, the people are too indistinct. My choice would be to have them a bit more recognizable as in the color shot. Both are wonderfully engaging images, and it just comes down to what you prefer. Or heck - no reason to choose. Print 'em all!

The title immediately brought this to mind -

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

But the reality is I see a child looking far from happy as if she has been refused an ice cream perhaps. Not about to burst into tears but certainly not wanting to talk either. We tend to look up when day dreaming and down when things aint going our way.
The treatment you have given this is sublime my friend just wonderful and the two folks in the background are perfect. The only change I would like to see is for the background to be pure stark white but keep the people without the grey splodges but have to admit not sure this is possible to achieve.

This version is much more ethereal. It has a softer feel to it. Very different from the original image. I like them both; but I think I would give this version the edge. Because the background is almost eliminated, you are forced to pay all your attention to the subject. I like it a lot.

For me her look was more of contemplation than unhappiness but I struggle with titles Mr. Spad. Thank you, not sure about loosing the background context but will give it some thought.

Thank you Erich. I like the color also but am partial to b/w. I just hadn't gotten the look I was after yet in the other thread when minnniev called my hand.

I too, like the ethereal look of this photo! It does make one wonder what the child is thinking about. And, I have always liked "high key." As for the people, I can take them or leave them. For me, there is no need and they wouldn't be missed. My entire attention is on the subject because that is compelling.. Love it!! TG

Thank you ThreeGambler for taking time to look and comment. I felt the people gave this image a bit of depth and a sense of place, and hoped I toned them down enough so not to distract.
