A well stocked camera bag; I'm psych'd and ready for the trip! (To Camp Lejeune)

The wife and I are driving down to Camp Lejeune to spend a day or two with our Marine Son and so I loaded up the sling bag. It's an Amazon Basics bag that got really good long term reviews and was only $20.00.

I'm ready to go; I have the FM2 with the 35mm f/2 attached, the bag has the film and all of the other goodies and my wifes Isolette came today!

Hopefully I'll have something worth looking at by the weekend. :)

I was just in the area last week on our way to Beaufort. We weren't on Camp LaJeune itself, but drove right past the entrance. I wonder how freely you'll be able to use your camera on the base. Outside the base, there didn't seem to be anything particularly interesting to shoot, but I was driving through and didn't look around much.

But you didn't leave any room for beer in your well-provisioned kit!

Since you'll be fairly close, consider taking a day trip to Fort Macon (at the end of Atlantic Beach), the NC Aquarium (also on Emerald Isle/Atlantic Beach), and some of the houses, the Mariner's museum and the VERY old cemeteries in Beaufort, NC. These are all first class photo ops. Just drive up 172 to Hwy 24 to Swansboro, then follow 24 along the coast to the end (becomes fort Macon Road) to Fort Macon. On the way, you'll pass the aquarium, and it's just over the bridge, maybe 10 miles, to Beaufort. Stop at the Dock House in Beaufort for a drink and to enjoy all the yachts and occasional historic vessel, get dinner at the Ruddy Duck in Morehead City, or for a treat, take the dinner cruise from Beaufort - not very expensive and a great view of the harbor and estuaries. They also have a short cruise over to Cape Lookout, and don't miss the wild horse herds on the cape if you go there. Let me know if you'd like me to send you links to any of the above. Now that tourist season is over, none of these will be crowded.

Thanks for the good info but well be on base the whole day, then dinner, then to bed, and up early to drive back. No time to sight see on this trip.

It's a hike from West Virginia. A long day's drive, but well worth it when you get to see your son.

It sure looks different then when I pack my bag. What is all that funny stuff like HP5 and AGFA400; sounds like something very scientific. How about those strange looking yellow tubes; they aren't drugs of some sort are they?

I got out of film when I came back to photography. It's been a long time since I've seen those names; how come it is that I can smell them now?

Tell your son how proud we are of him and have a super visit. Don't forget to do some shooting. Lucky you.

Same from me - we appreciate the few that serve and keep us safe.
