Canon MX882 continually has paper jam

I've already ordered a new one from B&H, but if I could easily fix the 882, I could send the new one (PIXMA iX6820) Wireless Inkjet Printer back.
Paper jams, each time I attempt printing. I have to manually remove from the back rollers. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

are you using 'plain' paper & have this problem? Try turning the stack of paper over, so the paper is 'right side up.' That's my WAG. Good luck!

Never had an issue until yesterday. Same paper for 4 years. Thanks for the response.

I suspect the rollers have lost their grip. Since you can remove the back rollers, pull them out & scuff them lightly with a scotchbrite pad (the green nylon scrubbing pads). When I managed a computer store in Monterey, CA we used to suggest that for repeated paper jams.

Assuming you're talking about document paper, have you considered trying a different paper weight?

Since you don't say what you've tried, here are some suggestions:
1. Exit the print program completely, then exit everything else, then turn off the computer, let everything sit for a few minutes, then restart the computer and the print program. This has worked for me in the past when I had a printer problem.
2. Check the settings that the printer receives regarding platten gap and other stuff like that. Usually you never have to check because they rarely change but sometimes they get clobbered by accident or whatever.
3. If nothing else works, including contacting the manufacturer, then place three chicken livers into a sock and swing them over your head while chanting something that sounds mysterious.
Let us know how you solve it.

Thanks everyone. New printer arrived yesterday. Not set up yet. Gave up on the MX882. Had I received your suggestion prior to its arrival, I would have gladly attempted the fix.

I had the same problem with an HP printer. The Geek squad fixed it once. When it happened again I didn't bother. It wasn't the rollers. It was that the printer was "seeing" some paper on the path that wasn't there. The Geek guy cleaned it many times until the printer decided it was gone.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm the "Geek Squad" here! LOL $149 for a new one will not alter my life.
