While I know this is more personal Preference than anything else, the owner of the camera shop is really trying to sway me. A little back ground on the issue, I now own a Canon T3I & a 70D with 3 L Lenses and multiple other lenses, Flashes ect. I went to the camera shop to look at a Full frame camera. Had my heart set on a 5DIII or IV, well the shop owner is really trying to sell me the Sony A7R11. My issue is, is the sony that much better than the Canon for shooting wildlife and some landscape. I really enjoy photography and have only been into it for @18 months or so, but really want to donate more time to it as retirement gets closer. Why is he pushing the Sony so hard??
Thanks

Maybe he makes more money selling you the Sony. Personally, I avoid asking a shop owner which of two or more similar products I should buy. Their primary goal is to make profit.

Ft, LoL, that's pretty funny! Did the store guy tell you he'll trade all your lenses straight over so you're all set up and ready to shoot at the same level you're at now?!?! Of course not! LoL
I do a lot of all kinds of photography, including nature and sports. The camera that shoots one of those genres well, will also shoot the other well too.
Sometimes I shoot sports professionally. I was just in Rio and saw thousands of photographers. Wanna know what???? I NEVER saw even ONE Sony nor have I ever seen one outside of a store!
Also Sony has zip for lenses. Sony probably only makes a dozen lenses, that's why no pro will touch one. To increase lens selection you have to get a converter and use Canon lenses.
I suggest you find another store! Too bad you can't get the service you need.
Go back and ask the clerk why Canon is number ONE?!?! When he stops stuttering, then ask him why more pros use Canon cameras and lenses than any other brand on the planet. After he stops choking, thank him for his time!!!

Could be personal preference, ie a "true believer" in Sony.
Could be some incentive plan going on now for selling them or he has a lot in stock.
For one thing you would then have to replace all your lenses.
In fact those lenses and your familiarity with Canon would dictate staying with Canon. The 5DIII or 5DIV(budget willing). Or if you can hold off til next year the rumor is that a 6DII is coming out in Spring with more megapixels and either the old 5DIII AF system or a version of the 80D AF system, but definitely improved AF. If you want it now and budget permits than go for the 5DIV and use the 70D as a second/backup body, trade or pass on the T3i and work on more FF glass (I only own one crop sensor lenses even though I use a 6D and 7DII.)

Just what lenses do you have now?

Run!! This guy is trying to SELL you something that's best for him. If the $1,000 difference between the 5d3 and the 4 isn't important to you go with the 4 otherwise the 3. My opinion. If you were going to a whole nother system, take a look at the Pentax K1. But O wouldn't do that either because of your investment in Canon glass.

Before you listen to the store owner ...
Before you pay one bit of attention to what anyone else writes ...
Please, read your own comments.

Now, go buy a camera.

There isn't many brick and mortar camera stores left, this could be one reason. Just stay away from him, he doesn't have your best interests in mind only his. If the 5DiV fits in your budget get it. If you got that Sony he's so hot on what would you do with all your glass? Nope, not a good plan.

Actually you have said it yourself. It is personal and you already ran into the sale guy wanted to sell you Sony. So.. asking us then each one of us will try to persuade you to buy our favorite. None of us would try to steer you wrong but each of us will try to tell you to buy a different camera.

If the store owner indeed claimed that the a7rII is better for wildlife, if indeed you told him that you shoot wildlife, he lied. The a7rII is a slow camera.

For landscape, it is "better" than canon because of better DR (dynamic range) and more resolution but the 5d mk 4 is more than good enough. Either camera is only as good as the person behind the viewfinder. Good luck with what ever you go with.

Personally, I'm a Nikon guy. As much as I hate to(at times), I have to agree with SS. Get the Canon. You are already acclimated with Canons' controls, their placement, the various settings/menus and above all, their "feel." If you have to "jump ship," which I do NOT recommend now, at least go with a Nikon because, like Canon, they offer a multitude of different lenses and accessories at various price levels commensurate with your budget and level of expertise.
Don't limit your horizons. Enhance them and grow with them! Isn't that why you want a FF to begin with?

Secondly check out the Big 4 on-line photo stores. B&H, Adorama, Cameta and Roberts. None of these will lead you wrong and have great customer service. Many of them have same as cash financing (PayPal/Bill Me Later) so it's easy to get exactly what you want.

I noticed a few folks said go with the Canon because you are use to the controls. The controls on a 70D are totally different than those on a 5DIII or IV. In the xxD series you have to go back to the 50D to have controls similar to the 5D series. The 60, 70 and 80D models all have similar controls.

Like others have said, go with the Canon because you have EF mount lenses. Keep in mind, if you have EF-S lenses, they will not mount to any 5D model or any Canon full frame dslr.

If sports and wildlife are your main interest and you were considering the 5D III, take a look at the 80D. For the money, you are better off with the 80D, even though it's not full frame.

Sony is a great product. So is Nikon. So is - - - well you get where I am coming from. I would shoot many brands and if I were younger or if - - -, I would be intertied in shooting for a company. About two years ago I wanted to go with FF and add some glass. So I looked at offing my systems and perhaps re-branding. I have always shoot Canon but twice I was ready to change to Nikon but was talked out of changing by Nikon guys. Long story short I bought a 6D/BG-E13 and a couple of premium lenses. I was amazed at what it could do. I have been plagued by some health issue which happen at 73. I saw a teaching pro that owns a camera store. He does wilderness. I found that I had picked-up some bad habits from the voices in the background. When I made my buying decision I did not consult the Hog in general but did talk with some people that I respected. I did buy quickly and it may have look like an impulse. But I got the product that I wanted at a price point that I can sell used with out much rub.

As many others have said, the owner has interests divergent than what you need. That issue aside, if money is not a road block, as your still working, I would go for the 5DIV. I have the III and love it and the IV is even better.

With the Sony you'll get an electronic viewfinder. I've noticed some lag with electronic viewfinders when something is moving quickly in the scene. I know they've been improving that but an optical viewfinder is better. Go for the 5D MkIV.
