I watched a couple of hdr videos last night, I think i'll devote a few days to hdr shooting. i'll devide my time between in-camera hdr and bracketing. i'l shoot everything p.p. it and maybe it will give me an idea of what scenes lend themselves to hdr.

I went to an air show a few weeks ago, the sky looked pretty bland as the seconed photo shows. on the rest using picasa I hit a icon that says "i'm feeling lucky", these are what came out. not hdr but.

Sine you cannot shoot HDR of something moving that fast, are you at least shooting raw to maximize what you can do PP?

I shot the show in raw but converted it to jpeg and tiff at home. but these images were prosessed raw and saved as jpegs, then resized for this forum in paint. I have found that I do have a lot of leeway p.p.ing jpegs in Picasa.

It may seem like you have a lot of leeway post processing the JPGs, but you really don't. JPG only saves 256 levels for each color. The result of this is that bright areas and dark areas are only using a very few of those levels meaning that any change you make seriously impact the look of that area. So it important to do all your adjustments before converting to RAW.

It might be better for images like this to over expose a bit to bring out the jets better and to just try to darken the skies as best you can. Or if you want to work with layers, remove the overblown sky and add a new sky in place of it. Don't know if Picasa can do that.
