More Kudos for B&H. I ordered an iPad Pro 3 weeks ago, but just noticed that the price had dropped $80. Called to request a rebate credit for that amount which they approved without question or debate. Also had a cover on the order which was the wrong size, which they quickly replaced and covered the shipping cost by providing a return label via eMail. Now that's great customer service and why B&H gets most of my business.

Yes, today I wavered on purchasing a Manfrotto geared head from Amazon or B&H. Pricing was $25 cheaper at Amazon, but ultimately I believe in backing the company that provides the service to keep my patronage. I ended up buying the kit with the Manfrotto tripod for $60 less than the same kit offered by Amazon.

Only slightly off topic.
Do any hoggers have an update on B&H labor issues? I vowed to do no business with them until they improved.

I only have extremely positive opinions of B&H, sales or customer service. They are knowledgeable and polite and have always remedied any problems I may have had on any items I have purchased through B&H.

A pleasure to do business with B&H.

In business, nothing can come close to good customer relations. It is the same in a new car dealer service department, if you are happy with your car servicing there is a very good chance you will buy another car from them. It is why I like my small camera store in Kent, Ohio, if I have ANY concerns, they take care of me right away. B&H has an outstanding customer relations department, they also allow you to park in their parking lot which is about a block away from their store and I believe if you purchase anything parking is on them, or, it may be free if you are shopping their, either way it is just another great deal from B&H.

Unfortunately there are many people who base their purchases on strictly personal benefits, without thinking about the methods used to produce the items or services they buy. I learned about it in the 60's during the grape strike movement.

There have been many struggles against business owners, some even deadly. These struggles have helped us become strong as a country. It is ironical, to me, that current business owners often apply degrading conditions onto their workers when their own existence depends on the struggles that others had to experience previously. In a real sense, these owners are cheating, taking something that is not theirs.

So unless I hear that their severe labor relations problems have been settled, I won't buy from B&H.

I understand your dilemma here. There have been some less than flattering articles published about them. My personal experience with B&H has been excellent in terms of customer experience. I view the press as sometimes sensationalizing their stories to sell more copy. A phrase I commonly refer to is in each case there are three "sides" - the disgruntled employee, the employer, and something in between. Right now, I tend to the side of something in between. Thankfully, there are other options for the purchase of photo equipment. And in direct answer to your question, I have not seen anything recently about their "alleged" poor labor relations. I have to assume that the State of New York and the City of New York would have some power over correcting deplorable conditions. Maybe changes have taken place. If that is the case, the press may not find that story as sensational as it did that which they reported on previously.

If it was settled quietly, competently, fairly and carefully, why would you hear about it on the internet or a headline service? If it was not settled, perhaps you would hear about it if their doors were shut.

This is the main reason why buying from reputable camera stores pays off. I never had to send back anything I bought from B&H.
Another reputable camera store is Cameta. Great prices on refurb products and excellent customer's service.
I know there are many others, like Adorama for instance.
Always buy from reputable dealers.

I am happy to report that much what you've heard is simply untrue. B&H does not and has never purposely discriminated against any individual or group. We conform to all local, state and federal laws regarding recruitment, hiring and employment. We understand there are baseless accusations and unsubstantiated accusations percolating throughout the internet, but they are untrue.

http://forward.com/opinion/letters/342769/at-bh-were-negotiating-in-good-faith-with-our-workers/

Our store staff is as diverse as NYC itself up to and including the managerial level. The sales staff has not been and is not now exclusively or even predominantly white, Orthodox men. You may wonder about our recruiting. We do a variety of things to attract potential hires but one thing we do is ask current employees for their recommendations. Many companies, large and small, do the same. The benefit is talking to possible new hires who know a bit about us. Recommendations from current employees often include friends, former co-workers, relatives and neighbors. People, in other words, who are similar to those now employed here.

The allegations being made about warehouse conditions are likewise untrue. There is no asbestos, no lung-searing clouds of dust, no flakes of fiberglass peeling off the ceiling. The restrooms are as clean as those our Superstore customers use. There are no "substandard conditions."

There are not and have never been separate restrooms, except male & female. Every person older than 14 I know has a cellphone with a camera. If there were or are separate unsanitary restrooms I think we’d have seen photos of them in various social media. There has not been one. There have been reports from non-employees who have visited our warehouses recently reporting clean, safe, well-lit working conditions and restrooms as sanitary as those set aside for customers in our retail store.

The employees are not, as has been widely reported, "undocumented." Other than take-home pay, every B&H employee, including the warehouse workers, me and my boss, get the EXACT same menu of benefits.

Wow! Three weeks is well beyond what they could have denied. Good for them - and you.
