'Got Gas'?

Yesterday, I saw this individual while driving home. I thought it was strange that he was pushing what I thought was a bicycle loaded with aluminum cans. I gave it a second thought and decided to turn around and drive back to get a shot. Turns out it was a motorized bike. Not sure what all the other items are but it wasn't aluminum cans. I can only assume he was out of gas. Based on his expression, he didn't seem to mind that I took a shot of him.

See thru legs and tires Mr. Chinn., maybe a result of some type of motion blur process. Un-level for an effect?

I like the bit of motion blur! I'm not sure about the dark shadows on far left sidewalk/wall, though; they draw my attention because I can't identify them.

At first I wished for the background to be less distinct; I wanted to check out this gentleman's mode of transport - and his expression - more carefully. But I suspect that removing the background makes the story less interesting, more one dimensional.

Yea, I should have mentioned that. Sorry !!! I put the motion blur there out of experimentation. I knew you would catch it. Thanks for commenting.

Thanks Linda !!! The shadow you speak of is from him and the bike. Here is the original color for comparison. Thanks for commenting.

Could have been worse - dead motor. He does not look like someone who would forget the fuel.

The best part of the image is the expression and the removal of superfluous elements including color. If you redid it without the blurring, especially the offset brick pattern on the white walls, it would be a better image.

Yea it could have been a number of things why he was pushing and not riding. The blur was just an experimentation. I have no problem with it either way.

Good catch!
his His expression makes the image and reflects the prideful ornamentation of his transport.

It's a "stroll stopper" encouraging closer exam...upon which the local imposed blur becomes a bit of a distraction (at least to me).

I'd have gone back for a shot too!

I like the original better. I did not realize the blur was manufactured. I found his blurred shadow to be a real distraction to me. IMO convert to B/W without the blur and you have a winner winner chicken dinner.

Thanks Dave !!! Expression is #1 key in what makes or breaks an image, IMO. I agree, the blur is a distraction and I'm so guilty of such an attempt. I'm sure it won't be my last attempt to try something and throw it out there to see what returns. It was worth the u-turn so to speak.

Thanks NJFrank !!! I agree with you and everyone else on the blur issue. Here is the winner, without the blur.

Hey now, I endorsed the blur Though removing it does make that weird curved shadow easier to identify. OK then, Dave, carry on!
