Will be in central Vermont, at Echo Lake, near Ludlow, Oct. 12-14. If anyone has a particularly good photo taking site to recommend, I would appreciate receiving it.

If you don't mind riding for 2 hours..I would suggest Stowe Vermont, mountain road and smugglers notch road. You will be part of the 3 million people who come to Vermont because of our Maple and Birch tree colors.

Also consider:
Another great all around trip beginning in Ludlow:

Take VT Route 103 South to intersection with VT Route 131, travel East on VT Route 131 through Cavendish and Whitesville, to intersection with VT Route 106 in Downers;

Take VT Route 106 north to Felchville, then turn left at the General Store onto Tyson/Reading Road and follow it to Tyson and intersection with VT Route 100;

Turn left onto VT Route 100 and follow it to intersection with VT Route 103; turn right and follow VT Route 103 to Healdville Road, turn left opposite Harry's Cafe and follow Healdville Road to Belmont, then straight through to Tarbelville and intersection with VT Route 155;

Turn left onto VT Route 155 to where it merges with VT Route 100; continue South on VT Route 100 through Weston to intersection with VT Route 11 in Londonderry; turn left onto VT Route 11 and follow it through Simonsville to Chester, then:

1) turn left and follow VT Route 103 north to Ludlow.
or
2) continue on VT Route 11 through Chester to intersection with VT Route 103 south, travel VT Route 103, under Interstate 91 to US Route 5, turn left onto US Route 5, following it north through Ascutney to intersection with VT Route 44, take it west to intersection with VT Route 106; follow VT Route 106 south to intersection with VT Route 131; take VT Route 131 west to intersection with VT Route 103, then turn right to VT Route 103 and return to Ludlow.

All of the above are great suggestions, add a trip up RTE 100 to the list. But, like anything it depends upon your timing. Check out this Vermont site that shows the peak colors and when. You can also dial in your planned date to see where the viewing might be best. Remember though this forecast is based upon historical data as opposed to the actual conditions shown for that day.

You will be near Killington. Most ski areas run their gondola during leaf season. Maybe a great location, at the summit. Any lake shore, facing east. Great early morning sunrise shots. Woodstock, also a great photo location, a classic New England town. Please take me with you.

We will be in Woodstock that week, don't miss The Jenny Farm in Reading, not far from you. The most Photographed farm in the world.

That should be a great time to be there! I am jealous. You will see the most spectacular colors! Get off on the real side roads - you will find the most beautiful farms and barns, all surrounded by colorful maples!

I'm going up in two weeks to visit my daughter. Over the years I have found the entire state is one big photo op!

Just be aware that it has been particularly hot and dry this summer in the northeast and in the past, dry summers have resulted in less vibrant colors, earlier color and shorter season. There is always color - it is the onset, the demise and the vividness of the color that vary due to the weather and a whole host of other uncontrollable variables. I hope you find yourself at the right time at the right place. One never really knows.

Please stay home. That way it will make it one less car on the road when I go to Vermont to take pictures. Seriously, consider also going south on route 100 to Wilmington and then west on route 9 to Bennington, then north on old route 7 to Manchester.

There is an interesting covered bridge in Cavendish that has a story with it. My wife loves Manchester why a lot of shopping, but a great town center

Does not that make really the most boring place to photograph like the Pisa Tower, the Eiffel tower and the like?

Most photographed = beaten path.

Sorry to bring this up but to me originality/uniqueness is key. I am sure one will reply 'it depends how you see it', well, among the previous shooters, don't you think some have 'seen' your 'vision'?

Rogno never misses an opportunity to be obnoxious. Not to mention that his advice about cliche shots might apply to the Leaning Tower or the Eiffel Tower, but has nothing to do with a unique fall foliage scene that is a once in a lifetime and will never look exactly the same twice.

He loves to hear himself preach.
