A puzzlement?
I would like to hear opinions.
Complicating the matter, B&H will sell the Mark III bundled with a 24-70 f1.4L lens for $3250.
There is comparison of the 2 cameras at thedigitalpicture.com
I know that my picture-taking skills and objectives should be the determining factor. I think that I would realize a benefit from the Mark IV.
My current camera is the original 5D and f1.8 50mm and 24-105 f4L lenses.
Incidentally, Amazon will not disclose prior to purchase what, if anything, comes in the box with the Mark IV if pre-ordered. Canon Sales and B&H both will disclose. Amazon says that they cannot predict who the seller will be.

5Diii nothing wrong with the award winning camera. I would never buy a first run till its been out long enough to get its first firmware update so they can repair the complaints after the first production run.

If you're using the original 5D moving up to a 5DIII or 5DIV would be worthwhile. The 5DIV hasn't been field tested substantially so I would hold back. BTW CPW has the 5DIII with the 24-70 F4L right now for $2969 with a Canon USA Warranty. It may drop further.

I'm unsure whether I will upgrade from my 5DIII. I just don't see enough to merit the cost difference for myself. Generally speaking, upgrading every other model is the way to go.

You'd be overpaying by $400 to $1000.... They're selling used via private sales in the $1500 to $1800 range. It looks like the Canon website has $2099. Get one less than 2 grand and the idea get even better for a great great camera.

Improved sensor, better AF system, better shutter speed. If that means anything to you, get the IV. The more you use it the more you will appreciate having it over the III and you will forever tell yourself, why didn't I.

very interesting to read the comparison of the K1 versus the Nikon D750. On paper the K1 outperforms the D750. The K1 is very heavy - over 1,000 grams. The D750 is 840 gm.
I would still go with the Leica because of its size and ease of use.

Do you want the 24-70 1.4 L Lens ?? I don't know if this is a great time to buy either camera. I would wait until the IV comes out the price drops on the III (that's what I'm doing) OR wait till the IV has been out a couple months and they figure out the bugs. Be patient !!!!

I think the mark IV is the right camera for you. But I would buy neither of them for me ;)

Very good question, just an opinion or first hand knowledge.

Nope - I don't have one but if I won the lottery I would get one with that 24-90 ASPH zoom lens making the total price tag (camera + lens) at $12,400. I have a Nikon D7000 and a D750 with 5 lenses total.
The Leica setup is only 1/4 the weight of my D750 with a 28-300 lens. I tend to use my D7000 more than the D750 because of the weight factor. The Leica's small size and ease of use would be the reason I would go with a Leica if I won the lottery. Also, age is not on my side as I am crawling toward 75 in a couple of years. And smoking non-filtered Pall Mall cigs for 50+ years probably didn't do my lungs any good. So......I will never live long enough to learn all this camera gear - Nikon or Leica for that matter. -FiddleMaker
