Not familiar with in camera GPS, but since the P-900 has it built in thought I give it a try. Downloaded the file for GPS from Nikon NMT_14A.ee put it in the NCFL folder, turned camera on and updated the GPS. That worked fine. Turned on the GPS on the camera, had satellite signal, took a shot, checked the property's from picture and GPS coordinates was there. So far so good. Now I get lost I attempted to see were the picture was taken and location on a map in Google. Bombed out on that one. Put the coordinated in the browser web search didn't go to well either. I was attempting to do this with the memory card in a card reader and not from the camera itself. I made the wrong turn and I got lost with a GPS !

Didn't tell anyone in the first place. Simply asked how do I use it. That's it, nothing more. Or maybe because it's there for user use ? Lets see, maybe taking a picture of a mountain 2000 miles away from were I live, would pose a threat that someone could steal or have sex with the mountain because they found the coordinates. My apologies to the mountain that I put you in danger. Jeez, I asked a simple question.

Not familiar with in camera GPS, but since the P-9... (show quote)

Do you have Lightroom? If so import your pictures into Lightroom and open the Maps module.

Travel. I use it all the time. Many times I have wanted to look back and know "exactly" where the photo was taken.

Any decent PP software should provide the exit location data on a map (usually Google Maps).
I have used GPS on my cameras for years and wouldn't be without it I consider it quite an asset to a photograph. I use Zoner Photo Studio which always brings up the location, why not try it out.
By the way just ignore stupid responses like kuzano has made, there's always someone like the around.

If any of these miscreants is looking for a victim, he can go to any house in any neighborhood. Why waster time on the Web?

Yuppers, I should have not responded.
I'll do a search on Zoner Photo Studio. Tried to see if I could use Google Earth but I couldn't figure anything out. Thought it would be simple enough. Might have brain lock on this one. Checked PSE 10 and 14 and couldn't find anything like Maps. Brought up property's in PSE 14 and gives me a good GPS location, but to find it on a map is mind boggling for me. I'm a armature wild life observer and report findings and locations of migratory birds Hummingbirds where data is collected so experts can put it together across a wide range or narrow down any changes to routes. I'm not going to give up on this camera GPS situation. Thought it would be relatively easy.

I have a number of cameras with GPS and use it mainly when traveling. Like a previous contributor, I use the map function in Lightroom. Canon also has a map utility, but I don't know if it works with non-Canon cameras. I'm not familiar with the geotagging function in Nikon cameras, but did find this via the google gods:

GPS is the biggest waste of time and file space I've ever seen.

Greyfox used to have a Captain (USArmy)we called Greyfox. Not in his ear shot though. Appreciate the response. Haven't downloaded viewnx nor did I use the cd. Go figure. I do appreciate all of the information received. I did do the GPS longitude and longitude in Google Maps. Only put me out by 40 miles ! Not even close for artillery. Got a lot to digest now and play around with. About all of the responses have been very helpful and informative and worth a try in all suggestions.

One thing about GPS coordinates: there are several ways they are shown. When you input them into Chrome, say, you have to know which format Chrome uses. For example: Degrees. Decimal Degrees, Degrees. Decimal Minutes, or Degrees.minutes.seconds. You can be off miles by using the wrong format.
