Tattoos are a very controversial subject, and I generally do not like them. However, they sometimes have great meaning to the person who wears them. Such was the case of Blair, although she did not tell me what they meant, only that they were important to her.
Obviously her heart was broken. I've felt that before too.
That one of the woman with a bleeding mouth, on her thigh, is one helluva choice for something to put on your body for all eternity! WOW, what a statement and what an image!
Beautiful ink. Until I started shooting with female models two years ago, I thought that all women with tattoos were trashy. What changed my mind was seeing some of the most beautiful artistic body art that helps these ladies tell their own personal stories. To commit to something that is so extreme and permanent shows a dedication that many of us will never understand.

I have heard of "wearing your heart on your sleeve"..... but that is a little much.
Generally speaking, I would say that to the casual observer, these would seem to be pretty fucked up tattoos in that they are nonsensical. However, as you pointed out, they have a special meaning to the owner; which I think is the case almost 100% of the time. It does not matter what I think. For example; in my opinion, the one on her thigh looks pretty stupid. This is just me. I do notice that it is a quality piece of work from a technical standpoint. Am I being judgemental of her as a person? Not one bit! It is the same thing as in one's choice of an automobile. I think that the Toyota Prius is a stupid looking automobile, but I do know that it well engineered. Just because I don't think much of that particular model does not mean that the owners of these cars are stupid. One can not make that assumption. It is the same thing with tattoos. I would wager that she is probably a very cool person.
Despite being a "nude" model, Blair doesn't seem to want to give much up. Or, was it the OP's idea?

They should write a book instead. It's like putting billboards in Yosemite.

In mountain biking the most coveted award you can receive is the Single Speed World Championships(SSRC) award.
The winner can have the award put anyplace on their body they want it. They BRAND(burn) it onto you!
I'd like to win a dozen of those championships!!! I would wear them proudly till the day they turned to dust !!
SS
Lovely series. To me her tattoos are very nice.
I have five tattoos myself. Four are my spirit animals and the fifth one is in memory of my children.

I think it's really lame. Pretty sad.

I agree with you... I can't believe someone would actually inscribe that image onto themselves for the rest of time! It's self-defacing and plain crazy.

I agree with you. However I think that she is afraid that she will one day forget about a moment that caused her much pain.
I don't suspect that the tattoo on her thigh is for the public to understand at all. My opinion is that it's a reminder for her.
She opened her heart to someone that seemed to be innocent and harmless. "The birds" Her trust allowed this person to get inside. Then this person hurt her with that trust in the most vulnerable and hideous way. "The wounds on her face and heart" She is quite particular of her appearance."The necklace and hairdo".
I don't believe this pain was from a lover or even a friend. I think that it was from someone very close. A father, a mother, a brother or sister. Maybe an uncle. "The tree branches from within her"
I think that she wants to be reminded to never let that happen again because the pain and humiliation was unbearable. She can't tell anybody, so the tattoo is her release.
