I figured today I would post a few as a present to myself.
Couple weekends back went looking for the Hummingbirds that will frequent certain areas this time of year, where I live.
Spent about 4 hours looking and was blessed with oppurtunity shown below.
Hope you enjoy the results as much as I do.
The downloads are better, all were shot with Nikon D7100, Nikor 80-400, Auto ISO, 1/1000, at f6.3 for some.

Great. Were they from a tripod or handheld? Did you use manual settings or....?

#3 is a great capture. Nice work Mike.

I get down to Berwyn almost every month. Where did you find them?

Monopod, is what I use for that lens 90% of the time, unless I am trying to get birds in flight the hand held.
Manual Mode on the Camera with Auto ISO enabled, something I started using when I saw Steve Perry's (now one of the UHH Members) Utube video. Allow's me to set my aperature and shutter-speed. And if I pay attention to my meter in the view finder I can adjust exposure when necessary.
Thanks for the kind comments.

Joe,
Along the Riverwalk in Lyons just east of the Hoffman Tower, I just stand along the wrought iron railing. The riverbank is loaded with wild flowers, little orange tubular flowers which the hummingbirds are attracted to, plus one of the apartments has a feeder hanging of there balcony. Sometimes you can capture them feeding on the flowers. This year they have been harder for me to spot got lucky with the pictures I posted. For such little birds I did not realize they were so territorial.
The hummers will probably hanging for another week or so until the blossoms are all gone.

I watch these little ones every day at my feeder. Your wonderful series shows them quite clearly. I especially like #4. I see them working that tongue a lot, but this image truly shows just how long that tongue really is.

It's such a joy to get a good photo of these little birds. I agree that number three is terrific. I like that each has the opposite wing extended. Happy Birthday to you!!

Thank you. I have been thinking a monopod would help with sharpness
