Has anyone noticed that all cameras in the Sony RX100 and RX10 series have suddenly gone up by $50 at all stores (B&H, Adorama, Best Buy, etc.)? Does anyone know what is behind this sudden increase? I haven't looked to see if the same holds true across all of their cameras as I haven't paid attention to the pricing of others since I am only interested in these two series of cameras.

The same thing happened with the Sony a6000 before the release of the a6300. However, the cameras you mentioned are two of Sony's hottest sellers, especially the RX10III.

The RX10M3 list price was raised $100 to 1599.99. B&H is selling it for 1598.00 while Amazon has it at 1498.00.

They are getting rave reviews, and Sony is gambling that the price increase will boost profits without significantly hurting sales. You can bet they put a lot of computer time into that decision. How many sales would they lose, and would the price increase more than compensate?

Could it be the result of sensor factory issues and backlog from the earth quake. There is a Sony rumor that the RX 100 m5 is delayed for that reason.

Jerry you are right again about the price predators.
Sony has been inventing wonderful camera's and I don't
regret the $1500 I payed for the RX10 III. The Zeiss zoom
is worth it. And the video is sensational.

Another issue my grandson needs Epipen pen for safety
because of his extreme allergies. The rich lady CEO has been
gouging on price for years and decided it should go up 400%.
This is a product needed by so many families around the world.
I don't know how some people sleep at night. T

I wish the government would step in and control pricing on prescription medicines.

Do you not realize it is precisely because the government has gotten so involved in healthcare that the pricing is so screwed up?? Stop looking for "Big Daddy" to solve your problems and start telling "Big Daddy" to stay out of your life. You will be far better off!!!

Back to the issue at hand, Sony will reduce the price when the demand lets up. Simple econ 101(macro and micro)

Given your concern, venture over to the Attic to read about a Hillary Clinton initiative that I copied from a retired americans emailing.

Totally off topic regarding cameras, but a Stearns and Foster firm king matress I was looking at several months ago was selling for $1500 at several outlets. I held off buying and now the same mattress "on sale" is selling for $2700. I don't know what drives up prices. it must be the market, or the availability of key components. Auto sales have slumped off and I got a great deal on a Camry lease a few days ago.

Uh, Big Daddy sends us our Social Security checks and provides Medicare coverage. Big Daddy's Medicare took care of my $237,000 hospital bill this year, and $50,000 worth of chemo, and I paid less than $2,000 out of pocket. Without SS and Medicare, almost every retiree would be dead or homeless after their first major illness. Big Daddy better stay involved.

Yes, and you "earned" your Social Security, and survived to get into Medicare. These were programs that set up the federal safety net that is necessary in a large society. What is not a necessity is government picking winners and losers with our tax money, in terms of sectors, and delaying new drugs coming into the market, because a senator's daughter has the "preferred" drug.

All that is true, but the government's faults (and there are many) wouldn't have mattered to me if I hadn't got the treatment I did. And I wouldn't have gotten it without Medicare. Medicare being there, and available with no limits and with no ban on pre existing conditions is the main lifeline the government gives to seniors. I can deal with drug prices because I pay for a drug plan. A $12 pill costs me $1, and with my afib and lymphoma I take 9 pills a day. Without Medicare I'd be bankrupt. Without the treatment I got for less than $2,000 out of pocket I'd likely be dead. Of course the government is paid for with our taxes, and their allegiance is to the lobbyists and corporations. But without that safety net, we may as well look for another country to live in. All governments are corrupt and probably always have been, ours is no exception. I don't care if they leave me enough to survive, which so far they have. If they don't that's a whole different ballgame.

I do my best. It's mostly in the hands of my doctors. I am pretty much putting one foot in front of the other and following orders.
