Further to earlier posts with this theme here are a few photos taken in North Meols, Lancashire in the UK.
This village is near Southport which is a seaside resort about 20 miles north of Liverpool. Many years ago one of the main industries was "Shrimping", it still exists but there is only one shrimper still operating. The shrimpers lived and worked in very low beamed cottages and usually had thatched roofs, and there are many of these cottages still existing although some have replaced the thatch with tiles probably due to replacement costs.
Here are a few photographs taken on a recent visit, included are a couple taken of my friend Jack Wright's secret garden, so called because it is quite difficult to find the way in. Jacks family have lived in this cottage since the mid 1700' and he still lives currently.

Some PP was done mainly to remove TV aerials, as it lies at sea level reception is poor

Thanks, it was an interesting afternoon out. The only problem I had was that I had left my wallet at home so there was no pint possible!

You mean your friend Jack wouldn't spring for a pint.

Very interesting series of images. I enjoyed every one of these, as well as your history lesson.

Good work, removing modern paraphernalia makes a lot of difference to shots like these. It does however make the ones you've missed stand out more. Shot 1, bottom right hit me straight away and I wasn't consciously looking - maybe your intro guided me to it.

Another location to put on my list of must sees!

Well spotted, I admit I didn't spot that one, some aerials are fixed to chimneys with lots of cables going round the brick work, these are rather difficult to remove.
