Oh I like this! I've seen a couple of similar shots, but what stands out for me with this one is the framing at the top - with just the bit of hat + that great shadow, and also the clarity and position of the fingers on his left hand. Nice!

What I noticed right off the bat was the strong diagonal element created by the guitar. Obviously a lot of thought was put into the composition of this image. I really like the black and white. It is sharp throughout and has loads of impact. Terrific detail in the skin tones and the fabric of his clothes. I like this very much.

I like the curves and strong lines. The curve of his hat and the shadow it makes; the curves of the guitar. And the strong diagonals of the guitar and it's strings. Black and white emphasizes these things and keeps color out of the mix. I like that. I also like that he's wearing a suit. Impressive. Of course it is Cambridge, but still...

Wow! What a gorgeous photo! I, too, have been captured by the composition.

What intrigues me the most is Graham's choice to not have more space on the left side of the photo.

The lighting and details are so natural that, like an actor whose technique we don't notice because he or she has inhabited a character, Graham's meticulous proficiency is almost taken for granted. Thank goodness, for me, Graham posts here and I can learn from other photographers who do notice such things.

Great image. I can hear the dulcet high harmonic he is playing on the D string...touching it just lightly enough with the tip of his left middle finger that it will, when singly plucked, vibrate as equally above as below that point of gentle contact.
A beautiful image to be seen....and heard in the mind's ear!

One of your classics it is good to see again.

all been said. Such nicely framed forms and textures - expressive, the hands and fingers have such a life on their own.
