new to photography

I would like to get some opinions. Just starting to work on shooting in Shutter Speed and Apeture Priorty modes. Also learing about composition. Could not figure out why all my pictures were so boring.

First off - remove the date stamp from your camera :)
The rest is subjective and reflect my tastes. Others may have equally valid feedback that might conflict with my tastes.
Your first picture is pretty good! I think the only improvement might be if you had gotten the whole branch of flowers. The top of the branch is cut off as is the flower on the left near the bottom. Other than that, you have a clear picture of the flower with an interesting background and nicely focused.
#2 is quite busy - the eye darts from one place to another and is not drawn to any one particular spot. Removing the white flowers from the left side might improve things
#3 You have objects in both the foreground and background that are out of focus. I think removing the foreground branches might yeild a more pleasing photograph. A secondary issue might be that the out of focus objects are more brightly colored than the in focus object. This might not be an issue if the foreground objects are removed from the picture. Again, a second shot would have to be done and compared to see if other work might be needed.
That said, I think your msg title is misleading - I don't think you're as new to photography as it implies. You definitely have a good handle on depth of field and composition.

I see you are working on DOF. However, this seems tougher in Aperture and Shutter speed priority. I would encourage you to start shooting in "M". Just remember your photographic triangle of Aperture, Shutter Speed, and ISO. ISO at 100-200 is going to be good for most shots. With ISO set there, you only have aperture and shutter speed to adjust. I you want more information on this, it would good t look at Bryan Peterson's Understanding Exposure.

Welcome to the forum and see that like myself you like the beauty of florals. I only have one thing to add to what's already been said and that's to stop shooting in bright sunlight. It easily causes parts of photographs to look washed out as you can see in #1 and #3. In #2 I would proably crop down to the 2 lavender flowers on the right and you would get rid of the washed out whites. Early morning and twilight give you the best natural light but if you're like me and seldom see sunrise then you might look at purchasing a defuser such as a white umbrella so the light isn't so harsh. Just a few thoughts and keep those new photos coming...........
