Fair warning for those who don't particularly care for my view of the world, but this was such a scenic area of the Netherlands that I will be sharing a bunch.
Zaanse Schans is essentially a windmill museum. Most, if not all, have been moved here from other locations and there is a society of craftspeople that dedicate their time to the preservation of this part of their past. Before I visited this place, I was under the mistaken impression that windmills were primarily for moving water, which they do very well (approx 1,100 gallons per minute) but stay tuned and I will show you some of their other uses.
Even the museum was pretty. We took a pass and went right to Zaanse Schans.

A canal and a windmill. It doesn't get much more Dutch than this.

Interesting series of well taken photographs on the subject, thank for the tour.
Zaanse Schans is a really neat place! I toured there several years ago. Nice shots!

Thank you. I don't know why but these were the best of the bunch. I took roughly 1500 shots on that trip and there were maybe 20 or 30 that don't need serious help.
It is my pleasure to be able to share su h a pretty place as well as a small piece of my roots.

Ironically, our Dutch friends had never been there. I thought that was funny but I should talk, I grew up 25 miles from San Francisco and it wasn't until I was 50-something and living in Colorado that I took my first ride on a cable car.
Thanks for stopping by and taking a look.

Thank you Sylvia, these were getting a lot closer to where I would like to be all of the time and considering that (once again) they had no PP, I thought they came out well.

It was very scenic and I actually learned a few things. What a concept, huh?
