Shot upper and lower half today with the celestron 236M and stitched with ICE after stacking. I used 200 frames of 1200 each and processed with ImPGG for wavelets. Colored in Photoshop.

Zoom for edge details.

Hi Jim can you tell me exactly which Lunt scope you got and which one you would have liked to have gotten???

What I got was the 60mm pressure tuned Lunt single stack and I should have gotten the double stack version. I am looking for the filter to do double stacking used because new it's almost as much as the scope. It pulls even more detail out of the sun than I am getting now.
I might have been happier with the 80mm for detail but I prefer the size of the 60mm for portability.
It's a lot easier to take out and play.
So it gets a lot of use. Just look at Flickr.

Beautiful image result, Jim (or is that B?)

Your orange is getting moldy spots on it though... (sun spots)

The prominence's are cool to see in the zoomed view.

Remarkable detail!

Anytime I have done anything with ICE around the Sun,
my results were all wet.

Sounds like Craig is teetering on the edge...

Yes Sonny I have been looking at the Lunt scopes and what Jim
suggests is pretty scary. Our Astronomy professor in the group
is looking at a Lunt for the Astronomy Class.

I thought maybe you were readying for the eclipse.
It appears to get amazing results.

Thank you very much. I get decent stacks and until I used the ImPGG software I was frustrated trying to translate that detail into stacks. If any of you are thinking about joining me in this daily and sometimes hourly changing world of solar you will be hooked so be careful.
If you do, be sure and come to the bright side at AstroChat.com
Great people just like here that love to watch you grow and provide good nudges when they can.

Don't be afraid. If you purchase the double stack system it's not a great deal more. It's by itself that it's expensive. I really like where I have gotten my shots to and look forward to growing even more.
I hope you get the chance to give this a try.

It seems everyday I get closer to what I see in the eyepiece and isn't that what we all strive for?

Thank you Jim.
I had to find a way to get a full sun image and since I have been having issues getting the snout distance figured out for my reducer, this worked out well. I have to do a partial custom alignment but it is starting to be second nature and quick.

What program are you using for camera control with the C236M? The ICap software Celestron sent with mine crashes after i select the camera
I'm using.

I'm not Jim, but I am interested in crashing camera programs. Have one myself, or did. Orion Camera Studio for my G3.

I now have a powered USB hub for my cameras and mount control. And since getting that, I can't recall my main camera program crashing.
That was the only difference I did, going from a computer powered USB hub, to one with its own power source. Everything stepped up, so I think my bottleneck was the marginal power supply of the laptop trying to run everything.

Matthew (Oknoder) recommended this one to me. (Well this brand, I decided on the metal enclosure)

So you might be having a power shortage causing the crashing.
