An iPhone will never replace my DSLR - but it doesn't do a BAD job in a pinch! Decent DOF for a close-up, although if it was with a DSLR I could have focused on the face. Using the built-in iPhone flash.

Thanks - Composition, lighting, a little cropping if needed - all are important to the success of the image. As we tell the newbies all the time - learn to use the equipment you have, and you do not have to spend a fortune to become a good photographer. Of course, with the iPhone you have no control over aperture and shutter speed, so it really is a "snapshot"...
