Westchester Magazine just announced that it is seeking submissions of fall foliage pictures.
It will publish the best ones in an upcoming Fall Getaways photo gallery on their website.
Photos should be submitted to:
edit@westchestermagazine.com
Subject line: Fall Getaways
Anyone intending to take fall foliage photos this year would be well advised to read this most
recent issue. It contains, in addition to great foliage shots, information on particularly good
locations as well as some information on nearby hotels and motels.
Photos need not be taken in Westchester County. In fact there are no Westchester County
locations mentioned in the article.
I have no relationship or affiliation to the magazine, except that I am a subscriber.

Thanks. It's a bit early to start shooting, though.
I wish I lived in a state where we actually even have a Fall. Sigh.
There is a proliferation of photo-contests out there. But be careful, in your submissions you can give up all rights to any submitted image. Contests are often used as a means of getting around hiring a photographer. Imagine you need photos to market a particular area or need images for a publication, just host a photo contest and get thousands of entries and images for you to use as you so please. SO PLEASE READ THE FINE PRINT. DON'T GIVE UP YOUR RIGHTS.

Be careful what you wish for! It also means you'd have a winter!

I wonder if they'll take Fall pictures from last year. It was glorious!
Hahaha, good point! But would you believe I'd actually like just a little taste of that? Just a day or two to see what it's like. Then it needs to go away. Lol

After last winter and the lack of snow, I hope this is winter will produce snow storms that are up to the short and curlies. On a daily basis.

How much do they pay for image usage? Or are they just trolling for freebies?
It's pretty amazing to me how some people get a thrill from seeing their images used in a magazine or other media, in exchange for nothing more than a photo credit (at most). Ever tried to purchase groceries, pay the rent, fill up the gas tank of your car or buy a piece of photo equipment with a "photo credit"? Most places I'm aware of won't accept "photo credits".
OTOH, I bet the photo editors at the magazine love getting to use great images for free!
Even if you're willing to accept no payment for their usage, I would be very careful to read the fine print. Do you sign over to them the right to resell usage of your images? If so, they can make some nice money off your shots, even when you don't.
Way too often, calls for submission and "photo contests" are nothing more than trolling for freebies they can turn into profits! And, as a previous response mentions, some are outright "copyright grabs"!
If I am willing to confer rights without compensation in return for free publication, I do not begrudge the publisher a profit. After all, that is why it is in business.
But I completely agree that the publisher should specify clearly that it has the right to resell the photos if that is what it intends to do.
"Copyright grabs"? One who has or intends to obtain a copyright would be fool to publish elsewhere without compensation.
On the other hand freedom of contract applies to both the author/photographer and the publisher.
