I have two old Canon SLR bodies with cracked viewfinders. Anyone know who repairs these, including Canon, and how much I can expect to pay? The cameras are otherwise working perfectly.

keh.com has a repair service on site. if you go to their website they can give you a ballpark estimate. or in the back of any shutterbug magizine is a section listing repair centers.

Wow! An almost immediate useful response. I really appreciate your gesture. Thanks.

What models. I may have the parts you need. However the replacement will require pulling the topcover. I could talk you through it but it might be better to let a pro do it. Parts may be an issue depending on the model. Also check with Discount Camera Repair in Denver.

I recently traded some emails with Rick there. Really nice person.

Everything I have is for older 35mm's. Check with Rick. BTW, how did they get cracked?

Well, if you'd only stop beating on your cameras when you
don't get the shot you want this wouldn't have happened in
the first place.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! I only do that with my power tools when my home inprovement project doesn't turn out the way I wanted. They're cheaper to replace than my camera equipment.

I will make a confession to show that I do not exclude self-indicting information from my UHH posts. I needed the cameras after a photo shoot which followed a lengthy seminar. I did not have time to run home for them, so I left the cameras in the hot car. The expansion caused by the heat is what must have caused the problem. I am lucky there it did not cause other problems. I knew what I did was not good at the time I did it, but anyway, hoping I could get away with it. The cracks are only cosmetic, as they still allow me to use both cameras effectively. Anyone who wants to roll with laughter, go ahead. I won't join you because the pain of the problem I caused is too great. I thank everyone who assisted me with this problem. UHH has saved me money and time on several issues. If I take your suggestions, instead of just living with the cracked screens, you will have come through for me again.

Thanks for reminding me. One of my zooms is sitting in my truck in the hot Destin sun. I could only carry so much and needed to get the beer iced down.

Got a few shots but intend to get out more tomorrow. Sunset today wasn't the best I've seen. I was mostly around AJ's. If I had rented a boat and gone around the Crab Island area by the bridge it might have been better. I'll probably try to catch sunrise again in the morning.

Hi. My name is Rick. I’m the owner and lead technician of Discount Camera Repair. What model cameras are they?
