No but it's amazing that at $2,000 plus it doesn't come with a hard case like the 24-70 and 70-200's come with...I have the old old AI 105 2.8, great portrait lens. I'd love to try the new one.

Anybody ordered one?
No, I get all the out of focus background I can handle with my 70-200 f2.8. My portraits are taken at about 150 to 200 at about a 1/2 stop down from f 2.8 and my broken is just fine thank you very much. Besides, I can zoom and crop with my lens and would not be able to do so with a prime lens, for me that is an advantage. Plus my 70-200 is more versatile than a fixed focal length, I can use it for a lot more things. Plus, was not the cover for the famous National Geographic taken with a 105 2.5 manual focus, how much better can you get. Besides, cannot justify the price tag at the current time. A set of Lee filters is in my future. Nice thought though.
The last I heard it was on pre-order for $2200. It's suppose to be the only 105mm prime lens at f/1.4. I thought it was a macro 1:1 magnification, it is not. Nikon says this is a pure portrait lens, period. When released, it will be the talk of the town just like the D500 is now. Definitely out of my budget for $2200. But for those who can afford it, get it. I'm waiting on the future reviews by owners.
I asked Nikon why their CP filter was not in their list of accessories for the 105E, pointing to one of their PR shots (female in red garment) with shiny face skin. Ten days later, they had added the the CP filter to their accessories list for the 105E. You can see that in the Q&A for the lens. Oh wait! Did I drive a decision in a Japan conference room?? LoL.
My early take on this lens is that the discontinuous 3-D impression you can create on a 2-D surface by the DCs is out-of-favor at Nikkor. See the newest 58mm as the pathfinder. The 105E is supposed to automate the depth effect more naturally. The photos on nikonrumors.com conform to my take.
Yes. I ordered one. I am a Nikon NPS member so I am "supposed" to get priority shipping. Looking forward to testing it.
Doug, are you sure that's a 2.8 and not a 2.5?

I sure will. My friend and neighbor is Joe Farace who writes for Shutterbug Magazine and he is getting one from Nikon to test. So we decided we will test whichever arrives first!

Your right, f2.5... I may have been thinking of my newer 105 2.8 Macco/Mico. But yes it's the AI 105 2.5.
