Hype. Canon & Nikon advertise 100 times more than olympus or Pentax or Sony. They're all good cameras. Nikon & Canon have an edge with more quality lenses and accessories. I used to use Olympus 35mm SLR cameras. They're great cameras.

I love Olympus and I have one, planning to get another. There are actually quite a few of us. Mine is one of the 4/3 mirroless PENs, the E-PL1. I'm hoping to get a PM-1 to go with it.

Best color rendition of any cameras anywhere! Been using them since the 1960s.

it is not an unpopular camera.in fact olympus has ome of the most poular film ameras from om-1 and om-2 to several very well made point and shoots in both film and digital. They invented the 4/3rd system which in turn spawned the new interchangable lens catagory (ilc) having said all that, why fewwer people shoot with olympus and pentax than nikon/cannon/sony i dont know why. oly' pentax have always been smaller companies but unlike minolta they found a way to survive. There is nothing wrong with your olympus. Although I am a nikon ninja, if i was starting out i would look at olympus and pentax. if you need more encouragement send a message to fivedawgs, she's the mother superior for all things olympus on this website,

I don't know about better ... but as good, I think. Different. The 4/3 micro system is light and small, great color rendition, love the feel of it in my hands. Limited lenses available, however. The bigger and other Olympus cameras have a lot more lens choices plus more accessories. I needed a small and light camera, but their regular full size DSLRs are relatively compact too, at least compared to some of the bricks out there.

It's a choice. Olympus has a unique way of looking at camera design. They've always gone their own way. I liked them way back when and I still like them now. They have their strengths and weaknesses, like any system, but they work for me.

Color rendition is really superb. Their good lenses are very good, but probably not up the the "L" series Canons ... but on the other hand, they also don't carry the price tags of the "L" series either. And I actually like the Oly's color rendering better than any other camera I've used except for my very long ago Leica.

On the other hand, if you are a big guy with big hands, you'd probably hate it. Different strokes for different folks!

I love my Olympus, comfortable to use it. Size of the camera just great, and when I’m out to shout, nobody have the same camera.

Yup. But there really ARE a lot more of us out there than you think. Otherwise Olympus wouldn't still be in business!

5 Dogs, AKA fivedawgz, I checked out the Sony NEX and the hidden shame is the $150 flash, and in lens stabilization. Olympus PEN have in bod stabilization and a, tho small, pop up flash that would trigger slaves. Checking over my flea market $5 lenses, I have an 85-210 (roughly 130 to 315 mm ) That with the one with the camera gives all one would need.
A wide array of adapters are available.

How do you shoot macro with the pen cameras?
