I bought the a6000 today and was researching the adaptor to be able to use my canon lenses. I understand that autofocus will be iffy. What I don't understand is about not being able to control the aperture. Can some explain how this works, please. Is the adaptor worth it?
Thank you

It depends on which adapter do you get. The basic adapters allow you to put a third-party lens on the camera in manual mode. You adjust the aperture and the focus on the lens. The shutter speed and the ISO are still controlled by the camera. If you get an electronic adapter he gets if he depending on how your camera and the lens work together. In the Canon line the version 2 lenses L series seem to work fine. However the older lenses seem to seek Focus for a long time. I have a couple of version 2 lenses and they work great. So on the electronic pass through lenses it really depends.
The Cadillac of the adapters by price and features is Metabones pricey @ $400 and some models with more features levitate toward the higher end of the price range. You may also want to take a look at the Commlite adapters, the price is less, before you make a decision you have to know that in most instances you AF could be slower. Here is a YouTube line to a comparison of the Metabones vs Commlite adapters, here is a link to a comparison between those two adapters

I just bought the metabones 4 adapter. I also own the Commlite adapter I bought about a year ago. It works best with the L Series 2 lenses. All the features work with that series of lenses. However, the meta bones 4 adapter works with all my L Series lenses. It works great with my Sony 6300 but slower with the Sony a6000. Since all my lenses are L series Canon I really can't speak to any other lenses. It was worth the $400. With the commlite the non Series 2,(mark 2), wouldn't Focus correctly. The lens would just keep taking Focus but never achieve it. The meta bones works like it's part of the lens.
Jer, thanks it is great to be able to hear from someone who has actually purchased and used the Metabones adapter, which version of the adapter are you using if I might ask.
