I think I'm going to like it

Just got home with my new Canon 16-35/f4 lens and, hoo boy, I think I like it. I've been doing quite a few apartment interiors lately and my 24-70 just isn't wide enough sometimes. I was using a Bower 14mm but the distortion is pretty severe even after the ACR correction for the lens. This 16-35 is sharp, has very little distortion and what little is there is corrected by ACR pretty well. I've got some more shoots this Wednesday and can't wait to try it out. FWIW, I'm using a full frame camera.

Good for you! What body are you using. I have the 6D and would have love that glass. Budget restrains put me on to the Tokina 16-28 f/2.8. I also have the Korean 14mm. For a cheap prime it is pretty good. Enjoy

Thanks JR. I also have a 6D which is near perfect for my needs. I wanted to check out the Tokina also but the dealer was out of them. From the tests that I've seen it is as sharp or sharper as the Canon and made just as good. They must be selling well but I don't think they are that much less expensive than the Canon.

It would have been more exciting if the big brown truck delivered it.

That should really handle a lot of your needs. It also provides a nice range to have some fun when you are not working. Enjoy!

I bought mine used at a greatly discounted price. I was using a 60D and had the EFs 10-22 which was like a razor. I really think it hard to find a really bad UWA.

Good shooting.

Thanks Bill. I can remember when the mail order stores were less expensive than the local stores, but that hasn't been the case for quite a while (at least here in Omaha). I always prefer to purchase locally unless there are some significant savings to purchasing on-line.

I used to have the 60D and the 10-22, didn't use it much but it was a very good lens. I used the 17-55/2.8 95% of the time.

Thanks Marion. I'm anxious to see how it works for trials. I usually get close right in the sections so it might work.

Keep me posted. I'm thinking about the 17-55 f2.8 for trials.

I got a (mint) used Canon 16-35L f4 from Robert's Camera a few weeks ago and I love it. Was in a rather dark venue just last Thursday with the lens on a 5d3 and got amazing pics of people and the interior; used available light and no flash. I just set the ISO on auto and shutter speed on 1/30 and all was perfect. The ISO never went above 400.

OK. I used a 60D for several years with the 17-55. I think it was perfect provided you were up pretty close to the action.

Thanks. That's good to know. My 24-105's a little long sometimes at 24mm.
