I can ID a few bugs, but this one has me stumped. Would someone please help me on this one? About 1 1/2 inches long.

This is great. I feel that an old dog has learned something knew today. Well there is plenty of room for learning. The older I get it seems I find there is more to learn. Thank you very kindly.

I walked around in some of the mowed area and they must have left many ticks homeless so they went home with me.

This is the first time I have noticed them here. The area this was in is pretty much native. Thanks for helping me ID it.

The Tall Grass Prairie Preserve was originally known as the Z Bar Ranch or Z Bar/Rolling Hills Ranch. A very interesting place to visit but can be very hot in the summer.

One of the best things about the Tall Grass prairie preserve is that you can see your charitable contributions to conservation at work. It was purchased by and managed by The Nature Conservancy. They have and maintain the largest buffalo herd in the U S at 2,500 animals. There is also a private herd of longhorn cattle on the preserve.

jadeast, It is great what the Nature Conservancy has done to preserve some of the special ares in our country. It is about 50 miles east of my home. I don't spend enough time there even though I birded in that area before the Conservancy purchased it.

Yep, I'm a member! Going there was the first time I had been anywhere I could see my money at work! You probably visit the Great Salt Plains State Park is then too. We enjoyed that with all the waterfowl.
