Earlier in the week was the discussion about the pros and cons of the 6D. I had just ordered one refurbished from Canon and it arrived Wednesday!

For sure it is a little slow to focus and you have to watch the (minimum number of) focus points. I don't usually shoot BIF's or sports, so that is not a huge problem for me.

What it DOES is give me bigger, sharper images to play with!

I took it with me to the wetlands Thursday evening, and here is a result - and yet this image is cropped and compressed:

No more room on the sandbar!

Nice photo! I've had the 6D for over 3 yrs now and have been quite happy with it's performance. It does have some limitations, such as it's auto-focus, but anytime you can use single center point it will do a fine job. I've shot BIF and sports with it on the occasions when I didn't have my 7DII with me and though it was a bit more challenging it still performed well. It's low light performance is excellent. Slightly better then the 5DIII even. It doesn't have the more robust build of the 5DIII or 7DII, but, so what? Few of us ever abuse our gear enough for that to become a factor. Here's something you may want to try: I shoot both RAW and JPEG and the JPEG's always seemed a bit flat in their appearance. I went into the "Picture Style" settings and set up a User Defined profile to enhance the photos slightly. I set mine at 5,2,1,1. That livened up the shots just enough to make them look more natural and eliminated a good deal of post processing. Did the same with my 7DII and got the same results. It seems to be common for Canon to look a bit flat right out of the camera. Just be aware that it will also change the look of your RAW shots slightly.
You bought a good camera. Enjoy!

great shot Steve-pretty eclectic mix of birds, too. If I didn't have 2 7D2's, I'd probably be thinking about a FF, too.
