When I get my final payment...I will have the option to get either of these...unless I got back to Canon? Well, that's another kettle of fish! This is just one of those comflicts of mine.
Thanks for your imput.

Rumor has it that there will be another DX camera announced by Nikon yet this year, and that it will be a replacement for this pair. (It's still an open question whether there will be future lines from both of these or just one).

If you can't wait a couple more months, I would recommend the D7000 because of its wider ISO range, higher pixel count and lower price.

Thanks Rumor. It won't be til September,so I must wait and then believe your imput was very helpful. I have the D5000 now and feel I need more than that. Had thought to go back to Canon 7D, but have a lens for the Nikon already. It is the kit 18-55,which I am not that happy with.
My budget is limited since Diabetes affected my vision,so no more pro shooting yet...
It will be nice to see what is coming up.
Have a great day!

If the D600 is an FX camera (as Nikon Rumors believes), there will likely be another one as well - a DX model.

If you have to pick between the D300s or the D7000, the D7000 blows it out of the water if you use high ISO.
No comparison between the two. The D7000's image quality is closer to the Full Frame D700. I've done tests and have all three.

The one thing I don't like about the D7000 is the Mode dial does not lock and gets bumped occasionaly. The low noise isn't just with the image, it's a very quiet camera as well.

If you can wait for the rumors to become real, from what I 've read, it may be worth the wait.

Tough choices.

Wow, that would be awesome. I had thought of maybe getting a full-frame DSLR too. Canon 5D mk111...til, I saw the D800. But, I will wait and see...how it all shakes out. Also, it would be wise on my part to invest in better glass with such a great body...so at the lower price point for a DX body more $ for that lens/s.
Thanks for the link too!

Don't base your decision on the fact that you have 1 cheap kit lens that you don't even like !

I currently shoot a 300s and am very happy. I will probably upgrade to the 400 if and when it ever comes out. You can probably pick up a clean used 300s for less. For me, I'm looking at a Fuji x100...I think DSLRs have seen thier day.

As a fprmer pro, with all those nice 35mm's and great lenses. I never owned a Hasselblad or RB67. I did use them, but my Mamiya C330 worked fine. I like the DSLR's out,but I see your point..the ILC craze is rampant now.
I guess I'm what my 11 year old daughter calls "Old school". I gave her my little ILC for her birthday and shes' gone wild with it! She is shooting videos for Youtube...
I am just wanting to get some amazing shots to replace all the chromes I lost in a flood. See, digital backup was just a thought back then. So, back out West I go and then up to the Pacific Northwest to reshoot as many as I can. I know all these places have been phtotographed to the MAX,but?
Thanks for all the imput and it will be useful.
