Question? I assume the MK4 will be faster, but for me I see no reason not to go to the 5DS or 5DsR.
I started digital with the 5D and currently own a 5DMK2 and a 5DMK3.
Other then a couple of fps why would you not go for the 50MP?

I plan on moving up to the 5D Mark IV. I passed on the Mark III, because I could not justify the new body over the others I already owned. My plan is that I will sell the 50D, 7D Classic, and the 6D. Wait a few months before buying the 5D IV, and read what people think of it. I can also evaluate the new bells and whistles that have been added, or improved on. I noticed when Canon first announced and made available the 7D Mark II, the price line started at about $1799, and then started falling about a year later. Now that camera can be had for less than $1200, or even less. I've also noted the production of the 5D III has been shut down now for several months, to clear the "new" inventory from store shelves. The announcement of the 5D Mark IV will take place on Aug 25, and rumors say will be available mid September. Now, I'd like to get a look at the Canon manual for the 5D IV, just to read up on the camera. Today I feel the Mark IV is fully in production, and it is not a half baked clam. I'm sure if a flaw in the camera is exposed now, it cannot be re-fitted with a new major part, but will have to be fixed with a quick firmware update, or the announce date will be advanced a few months. In any event, I'll be on the bandwagon at some point.

I have a mark 2 and have been thinking about the 3. there is no way i would spent 3K on a new body. maybe the 3 will come down in price and then i would make the move.
Thanks everyone for your comments. It appears there is interest in purchasing this new camera. And some are in the wait and see first, before committing. Most likely, the price of the Mark 3 will be reduced.

Not sure it will be reduced much more.
