I would like to experiment with off camera flash. I currently have a Canon 430ii Flash and I just purchased the Yongnuo YN560 flash. Which is a pretty decent flash for the price of $68 from Amazon. I would like to purchase another one and use it as off camera flash (in a softbox or umbrella). Currently I use the Canon 430ii flash in a softbox with the Cowboystudio radio trigger (model NPT-04). I am very happy with this set up but I would like to add two of these Yongnuo YN560 flashes but I am not sure how to set it up because these are manual flashes and the Canon 430II is a TTL. I was hoping to use these three speedlites without purchasing the Canon 580EX II speedlite. Can someone tell me a website or book that can show me how to go about setting up this equipment or if it is even possible?

I own the YN560 and the Canon 430 II. The YN is a decent, manual strobe. It is very useful as a slave but does not function as a TTL strobe. One of the best sites to learn about strobe use is http://strobist.blogspot.com/?m=0 You'll have to search around the site but they have a great tutorial series on there about using manual flash.

I also use it as a slave together with my Canon 430EXII and 580EXII. Always in manual mode. It is a pretty good flash for the money. I just find the settings a little awkward. Probably worth a look.

I agree with this too. I have both the YN560II and the 430EXII and I use them both on manual 99% of the time.

Mark Wallace will teach just about everything you can think about with flashes and speedlights. The three day course is free to watch on computer from anywhere in the world. They would like people to buy the course but you don't have to.

Through out the course there is Q's and A's plus a few give aways (normally).

Creativelive.com has many different subjects through out the year(s). Look into what they had and will have. Pretty good information.

Even for those "experts" out there, it's a good refresher!

I saw most Don's course. His experiance came through very well.

*(If you remember his western hat, it's a "crushable" Harley Davidson hat. I own one just like it but took the "HD" hat band off and put on a woven leather one. I could tell his was fairly new. After a year, the sides flop downward. I still love it since the soft hat will bend out of the way and still give me a good sun/rain cover where as a hard western hat will get pushed off.)
