This bird showed up recently and we are not sure what it is. My wife thinks it is a juvenile red head woodpecker. I am not so sure but we do have adult red headed woodpeckers and from the way they were filling their beaks this spring and flying off I am sure they were feeding babies. All you bird experts that have always helped me in the past please help again. I know someone will know and I thank them in advance for all the help. The pictures are not great but I think the will be good enough to make an identity.

Your estimation was a correct one. The wings bar are the telling feature.

This is one of the images from a Google Search on red-headed woodpecker for comparison

Thanks Bob. UHH never lets me down. My wife is right most of the time and of course she is right again.

Never argue with your wife, especially when she is correct.

And wives are, for the most part, ALWAYS correct. I remember clearly the approved responses we came up with when I was married: "Yes, Dear", "No, Dear", "No excuse, Dear" and "I'm SOOO sorry Dear". Served me well for the 30 years that marriage lasted before I was traded in on a younger model ...
