I thought this image looked best as a simple block print. My beginning for digital artistry... I've a long way to go!

Works for me! The texture in the background is interesting without being overwhelming. How did you achieve?

The spider and his background now belong in a young-adult book, instead of properly squished on the wall!

I like your spider islandgal. I like the new background and texture work - the pattern looks really good. I have mixed feeling about removing the shadow - leaving a hint of shadow behind would be another option. Good work.

I wasn't paying close enough attention; now that I've read Piet's mention of the shadow, I agree it would be a cool idea to explore.

That's a lovely gal! Beautiful markings, and I like the block print effect. I am not bothered by the lack of shadow as I think it makes it look more like a block print and not a photograph. I do wonder if she could stand to be sharper (in the original photo) so she'd look less like a photograph, but as soon as I typed that I started to waffle, which is pretty typical of me so pay no attention. 😒😄

Linda, I need to start writing my steps down! I started in PS and cleaned it up ( minus shadows ) with the clone brush, gaussian blur, unsharp mask for bring out the abdomen.
Onward to Topaz adjust, until I tried the Film preset, and I believe it was Grunge III . I was going to try it again with the shadows Adjust trial ran out an hour ago. I'm debating wether to purchase. How many times can one use a "trial"? Trish

I'm trying Snap Shot, feeling a little over whelmed... learning to take good pictures, now learning to "make" good pictures!

Hello Chuck, I didn't exactly know what I liked, but at the very beginning I knew it suited a block print look ONLY because I didn't know what to do with it! I had it sharper and the abdomen stood out like a sore thumb. Actually the yellow textured background in the Topaz/Film preset/ grunge 3 tamed it down a little. In the end I found this look more acceptable to my eyes!

Thanks! I don't know about the re-use of a trial. Maybe have to use a different email address after uninstalling all evidence of your first trial.
