I know the topic has been addressed before, but I am trying to assimilate the mound of data. I know they are opinions, but with it comes personal experiences. What is the consensus as to the best printer for the dollar. Here is the scenario-- My daughter's platform for the Miss Tennessee Pageant is literacy levels in the state of Tennessee. We are putting on a Concert/Auction/Children's Storybook Character Pageant in June. I am gong to be taking pictures of the pageant, contestants, etc. For a donation to the literacy council, they will be able to purchase the pictures. I want to know the best printer (this will be out of my pocket)--in terms of performance and cost efficiency--that I could purchase. Thanks in advance for the feedback

For my money it HP... I've had all the major ones and HP is always there at the top for quality of prints... They have a model that can print up to 19" that is going to be my next one...

I like HP but am thinking Epson for my next printer venture. Why? I have a friend who prints and sells his work at local art events. He uses an Epson with 19" print capability. When I get my 20x30 enlargements done, the photo shop is using an enormous Epson machine, excellent results.

I'll beat MTShooter to the punch..if you don't need to have same day or on-site turn-around, not printing fine art and want glossy or a luster finish...Costco.
I shoot several events every year and use Costco for printing. Less hassle and the hot dogs are great!

Otherwise, my money would go to Epson.
You didn't say how big.

I have both HP Photosmart C8180 all in one, which does very nice pictures and I also have the Epson Stylus Photo 1400, which does excellent pictures, I tend to use this one more because of the quality and brighter colors.

From the Epson
From the Epson...

The Epson Stylus Photo R2880 is $449 after a $100 rebate - it's a newer design and will also print CD's

That was very helpful. Thanks so much for sharing. I tried them for the first time last week for a 20 x 30 image and am very happy with it.

Take your pick of all his printers this is the best way. And surport after the sale.
Best for your paper. I order a 1000 sheets at a time it cost me less then 10 cent. Prints come out dry a lot of prints come out wet. Its the paper you use.

I been playing around with printing for 3 years now have about 25 prints I've used, Your best printer is Epson, but I don't like there paper. I bought a Canon Pixma two weeks ago makes a great print but is slow for my use. All my printer have CISS systems ink savers. If you need ink?

I been buying from them for over a year great people to deal with.
If you say you can't beat Walmart prices think again. You do it my way your customer will come back ever time and you save on printing. Make it fun not a job.
