I saw this on UHH a while back, but I couldn't find it, so I'll bring this up again. If I buy the upgrade from CS5 to CS6, would I get the entire program? I believe that if I install an upgrade, it will look for the previous version on my computer. So far, so good. However, when I get a new computer, would I have to install CS5 and then install the CS6 upgrade?
Since I already bought CS5, is the upgrade price lower because I already paid for the previous version, or am I getting less?

You get the FULL version of CS6 with the upgrade. No, you don't need to install the previous version to install the upgrade on a new PC; you only need a valid serial number of the previous version.
I'm pretty sure CS6 will look at CS5 as its foundation, but from there it is a stand alone application and CS5 can be safely uninstalled. As far as migrating to a new computer, my understanding is that Adobe permits the installation of the software on up to two computers with a single license but you will probably have to start with CS5 as the foundation for CS6 on a new machine. This is the drill I followed and while tedious worked.
Jerry, I sure am glad you asked this question! I have been wondering the same thing for some time.
Thanks Merlin! I guess I can relax and go ahead with my upgrade now. You have solved a great question, possibly for a lot of people!

Careful Joe... If you are upgrading a version older than CS3, you might run into problems. Before I drop a couple hundred bucks, I'd give Adobe a call or send them an email. As a registered user, you should have no problems getting a satisfactory answer to this question.

When I upgraded, I had to select what I was upgrading from: CS3, CS4, CS5. Those were the only choices.
Is the upgrade worth the money ?

I paid for it, so of course it's worth it. That's why you never ask someone who bought something expensive if it's any good. "Nah, this Rolls Royce is the worse one I've ever owned. What an idiot I was to buy it."
I like PS, I use it quite a bit, and it's a continuous learning experience. I've heard that Content Aware is much improved. I really like that feature. The problem is that I have instructional books and CDs about using PS5. I'll look for free instruction on the web. There's lots available.
Thanks Jerry. I am just learning PS and I love it also. For me however for what I am currently able to do with it the upgraded seems like a lot of money.

Yes, it is, and I'm hoping I can make this my last PS.
If you have a full version of PS5, and you purchase the CS6 upgrade, you it will either look for the prior PS versions in your case PS5, and you might have input the serial number for your old PS5. Yes, content aware is much more improved if ya believe the folks reviewing, not only is content aware better but it will allow you to duplicate and move things that you could not in PS5. Congratulations. If you check with Adobe there should be plenty of good tutorials on PS6, in the event you decide you don't like PS6 feel free to send me a message, and I will gladly be willing to pay for shipping, and send you some McDonalds's coupons as payment, Congratulations from the less fortunate ones of us who have to go shoot mo photos and sell mo photos, rake leaves, and have a fund raiser to pay for the upgrade.

You almost had me until you mentioned the McDonald's coupons.
Recently my computer hard drive lapsed into a coma. When I tried to get my PSCS4 installed on the new hard drive, I was told that CS4 is no longer supported and I had to buy the up grade to CS5. I have installed it only on my new hard drive. I wonder if I could install the other copy on an external hard drive, so that in the event of another failure, I could move it to my hard drive to use. The computer repair shop told me that it would not run well on an external hard drive, but it seems that I could store my other copy on an external hard drive. Have any of you experts tried that? I am tired of computer problems and all the re-installment problems. My policy for PS has been to buy upgrades every other edition in order to get the most for my buck, this lack of support is a problem I did not expect from Adobe.
