I have wanted the convenience of carrying a bridge camera. Can't lug my 5D MIII, 7D MII with Canon f/2.8 lenses all the time. I've been looking at the SX 60 for a while, but the price was a bit high. I was about to purchase a refurbished one from Canon, but I did an Ebay search and found a one month old item (with a warranty card) for sale. Owned by a woman who used it once and could not return it to Best Buy due its purchase date. $350 with free shipping. I think it's a good deal. If it does not live up to my needs/expectations I'll put it up for sale on Ebay.

I have read some UHH posts indicating they thought the IQ of the SX 50 was better. Canon has not had refurbished 50's for a while.

We have both the 50 and 60...both are fine cameras.

The SX60 has a few advantages over the 50...can shoot in RAW in more modes...MUCH improved viewfinder...WIFI if that is in your plans...and a few others. The extra zoom is fine but not that much of a difference.

When we first got the 60 we did some side by side comparisons and there really isn't any difference in IQ...

You'll enjoy this little camera...its an amazing product for the price...and you got a great price.

I purchased a SX60 two days before I left for a trip to the British Virgin Islands. Like you, I didn't want to take the 5D. I loved it, got some great shots and didn't know a thing about the camera. Shot from from one boat to another and I was amazed at the images I got. So, I hope you are happy as well.

I bought the SX60 last year for a walk around camera in Thailand and I'm very pleased with it. I tried RAW for a while but went back to JPEG for most everything (do use RAW only with the DSLR). The superzoom is very amazing and the Wi-Fi is kind of cool but rarely used. I use it more than my DSLR for most everyday shooting.

I will convert to a bridge camera within a year .. Hopefully the replacement for the P900 ...my 810 / 7100 and associated equip results in a 35lb load when hiking and traveling ... So will my brother ...

Let us know how well the 60 works for you ...

I have a 6D and a 7D2 and got the SX50 for essentially the same reason - sometimes I want to have a decent camera but don't feel like lugging the DSLRs around. I really do like having that bridge camera option, and with the IS I can actually get pretty decent shots hand held even at full telephoto (as long as light is good). My only complaint is it isn't the greatest for low light.

Sounds like a good deal to me Mark. I have an SX50 but if you want some tips on using this camera contact Linda from Maine. She has posted some great images on UHH taken with her SX50. Good luck.
