I'm a new guy here and not too familiar with the way things work yet. I just today posted a set of photos of a church in Paris, France and put it on the Main Discussion forum--I have been advised that was the wrong location and it was suggested to use either the Christian Photography Group or the Photo Gallery instead. I have checked the current usage of both of those and it seems to me that the Christian forum is more keyed to discussion (with some photos) and the Gallery is mostly photos (with some discussion). I'm not particularly interested in discussing various issues in the Christian world, so would it be all right to post my church pictures in the Gallery?
When in doubt, post photos in the gallery, except nudes. After you are here awhile and have a chance to look around you may find a specialized forum the you are interested in. Most, if not all, forums have a set of rules and suggestions above the other posts.

Welcome David, the gallery is a good place to post photos of almost anything. If you want good feedback as far as critique, then the critique & comment section is best. For Your Consideration is another place where you can get truly honest (sometimes brutally so) feedback. You should go to the home page & check the show all sections button to see a list of all sections, some are very specific. Good luck and please keep posting. You may need to learn to ignore some of the curmudgeons who tell folks they posted in the wrong section.

Walt, I do not injure easily, so that is not a problem. :) And I do understand (now) what the Main Discussion forum is for. At some point I probably will take advantage of the ability to learn from others how to improve. Right now I'm just getting used to the format of this site--it's quite different from my normal operations using FlickrĀ® (which I will continue to use). I think learning to interleave comment and photos will be a useful tool, and FlickrĀ® doesn't have that as an option.

I wouldn't be too concerned. If its the wrong forum it will be moved accordingly.

Rather than opinions, when you read the rules and recommendations for each section you'll get the
facts as to where to post your pictures. Also saves Admin the trouble of moving them to the appropriate section.
